Since it has only 64kB, you can only run the original cartridge. You'd better try to get an MSX2 with 128kB or more RAM. Or, you can expand the RAM of this one. But since it's pretty rare outside Japan, that might be a bit of a waste.

Adding an external Memory Mapper will do the trick.

As stated before by someone else: the original will work.

Buy the original if you love the game, dude. That's something called: "supporting the market", "decent behaviour" or "according to the law".

Of course. But if he wants to use it for something more than only Vampire Killer in the fuutre, it might prove useful to have a little more memory.

Ah, of course. I didn't thinjk of that. But, maybe better buy a machine with 128kB or more in one go.

No, because if you read this thread you'd know Oneinchbiceps lives in the USA, so it's easier for him to get a Japanese MSX because of the same power and television standards.

So? Get a Japanese MSX2 with 128kB or more
OK, those are pretty rare. Here are some:
Canon V-30

JVC HC-80
Mitsubishi ML-G30mkII
Mitsubishi ML-H70
National FS-4600F (quite common in Japan)
National FS-5000
Sony HB-T600
Toshiba HX-23F
Yamaha CX7(M)/128
Yamaha YIS-503II/128 and III/128
Yamaha YIS-604/128

Well I just purchased this machine off ebay today so I see if it works. It is the copyrighted cart that I own of vampire killers so I have no problem with it playing. I might someday buy a euro machine (with the proper converters) so I can play the Metal Gear games but who knows I don't think I ever seen those on ebay so I might never play those.

I know this might seem a little stupid to you guys but I have no clue how to use an MSX 2 never laid my hands on one what do I do once I get this machine do I just slap the cart in and turn it on? Is it that simple ? If not any detail would be much help to me. thanks.

as for cartridges... it is that simple. As for running games from disks etc. it can get a bit more complicated, but most of the time it comes into entering a disk, starting the computer and .. wait

More information can be found in the MSX-FAQ
