I assume the WAREZ label was chosen with reason cause i realy feel offended especialy when i find links to Funet, or news about MEP on cd !

READ THE FSCKING THREAD!

Quote:

Copyrights for MSX or Nes, Sms, Neo Geo... and other vintage systems are THE SAME...

YES THEY ARE... And if I'm not mistaken, commercial Neo Geo titles were released even this year, and MSX games are still being produced (even though you may prefer PC versions).
You might call these systems 'vintage', but they are very much alive, and VERY MUCH COPYRIGHTED!

We are a site covering Emulation news and featuring roms for dead systems and WE DO NOT have games for PC, PS1, PS2, Xbox, DC, GBA, N64 !!!

You're a warez site, live with it!

LOW VBR and HIGHR VBR in case of modem speeds... whaahah. ahum.
but these kinda specs can be put in a tech.book for your idea.

anywayz... coffee any one?

Well that would double the storing space, and the effort needed to encode it. Basically in a lot of cases it would mean decoding the MP3's I have, and encode them again for low VBR. Besides, modem speed? This is the 21st century! I have always encoded my Mp3's in high quality....quality goes over download speed. And just like I don't care about people using Win95 or people that don't use screenresolutions beyond 640*480, I don't care about people with 14k4 modems

So you might be with me concerning high VBR, I am not with you concerning low VBR

Coffee sounds fine.

And J-War, I agree that funet links shouldn't be placed here either. Dead system or not, copyrights are still in place, we should at least keep MRC clean of warez promotion. Oh and please read Latok's response, and skip Guyver's reaction...he's a tad overemotional about a lot of things (imesho).

Indeed, we are struggling with the link to Funet. Until now, we decided to keep it up because Funet also contains a lot of legal useful utilities. This new discussion refires the internal msx.org discussion about it though. We'll keep you all updated.

Problem is also the fact that there is renewed interest in the system from Japan. There are a lot of interesting developments coming from Japan these days, and there probably will come more.

That forces us to live by our own policies even more. Indeed, the link to funet is subject of discussion within msx.org at the moment.

We reported about the mep on cd in the past. That was also because msx.org was relatively small, and there where no real signs of MSX becoming commercially interesting again to some Japanse companies.

MSX.ORG still grows every day, and with that growing, more responsibilities are needed.

BTW: We feel that msx.org is also the place for downloading demo´s, MSX related music and games (legal ones

Strange to see, that no one answers our calls for help on an already existing platform, but rather invent the wheel again. Ah well.

The FuNET link has been discussed many times. Though the archive does contain really nice LEGAL material we removed the link to live up to our own policies aswell.

Hi people,

Someone mentioned the ever so illusive KSS fileformat. It just so happens that rez, the webmaster of www.chiptune.com has decided to open up a MSX section very soon. The general idea is to fill that section the same way as the other sections, with primarily (demo-)scene music and maybe original gamemusic from the specific platform.
In this case KSS will be the representative format for the MSX section. Work is already underway on correctly tagging and renaming most of the already available KSS music. But chiptune.com is always on the look out for more scene music.

If you would like to help you may do so by contacting rez through www.chiptune.com. If you want to submit your own MSX music, help him out be renaming your files using the following format:

author-song_name.extension

E.g. the song "Multiple Errors" by Haze would become:

haze-multiple_errors.kss

Note the underscore is being used as a spacing character!

Your help in this case is greatly appreciated. Time to get more exposure for the tunes that made the MSX memorable! Both original work and covers are welcomed, just make sure that if it's a rip from a product that it's clean, properly creditted and that there's permission from the original author to republish it!

I am not discussing the fact that rules are rules... Rules are here to be respected.

The real problem is RESPECT here :

- When i made a first thread about forming a team and try to make a Penguin Adv for openGL i asked not to argue about the same things you argue over and over again..
Of course it was useless since some guys began to rant almost immediately and the thread final got quickly off topic. I ask to not argue, then it goes arguing... i'd rather have my wishes respected here.

- I make a thread for a MSX page, and while the discussion eventhough i wasn't ADVERTISING, the link are renamed to " {link removed} and i am called a WAREZ page like a if i was a Warez HQ...
But dudes even if you think i am a warez page that's not something to say to someone that put great effort in his site, you don't even measure how much effort we had to put in this site to keep it on top and running. Hey we deserve some respect at least. Do you even know what we did these past year to help the emulation ??
And beside know we were the first to have more than 3000 MSX files online for download back in our first years of existence ! Now we have 6500 files for MSX, MSX2, 2+, Tr.
Did you ever happen to see us advertising here ? Or bugging people on the forum ?

- Now there is even Guyver800 ranting because there's too much news about my Music Remakes... where do we go there ? That is respect ? If you aren't pleased with my remakes don't make news about them, i never enforced anyone to post news about them.

- Remember when the Msx.org was lacking host and was forced offline ? who came on the irc #msx channel to seek someone from MRC to offer free space on our server to help keeping the site alive ? It was me !

All i ever wanted to do was trying to help the msx scene and create some msx related project, will i have to go off topic for each post ?
Will i have to ARGUE ENDELESSLY each time i will say something because some guy here don't understand the world has changed out there ?
You listen to suggestions ? ok ! Browse this forum and see how many ranting and useless arguing there is...

Do you even realize i was " attaqued " as soon as i posted my very first thread here ?
After that you'll complain there isn't any real project...

Omg, I'd rather not imagine the reaction that will follow this post...

Well, nobody forces you to read the reactions

I'm sure you put a lot of effort in your "dead system software" site, fact is that it isn't your software, and that copyrights still apply. People who steal cars probably put a lot of effort to get in such a car and start it, still most other people don't like those efforts, except the stolen car buyers or, in your case the leechers.

Don't like people put questions at your efforts? Get used to it. That's life.

Please note that Guyver, although we appreciate his sayings (not always, but most of the time) is not a part of this site's team. So that has nothing to do with posting news about your music. (The latter subject can be of discussion too, but let's refrain from that)

We like your rearrangements, see it as some support and hopefully it will make you see that if you put some effort in legal things, more people will enjoy it.

It's better for your soul! And it keeps the advocates away in the long run.

I don't really get your point J-War? I might just be me, but what have other threads, irc chats about webspace offers (which we denied btw, though you were very kind to offer it.) have to do with the fact that your emulation site is about warez? You call it abandonware other people call it warez. Who cares? As long as you link to j-war.com no one complains, linking to a 3000+ msx rom site is a bit of a problem for the staff.

But all that don't matter... Because this thread is about a MSX music page. Host it at whatever place you like. I'm enthusiastic about the idea. I, for one, would like to listen to great arrangments and medleys. This whole discussion got out of hand because we do not want any links to MSX rom sites at the MRC. Just leave it at that. Now get the great stuff on the roll.

One remark about the respect though. If you would be sincere about the respect thingy, shouldn't you have respected our policies aswell then?
For me, and me only, it's simple. I greatly respect your medleys and arrangments, but I have not a single bit of respect for a ROM site.

Do you feel it's respectful to post on a MSX forum about creating a PC game? Is it respectful to say MSX programming is a waste of time? I feel personally insulted that you call my favourite hobby a waste of time.

Congratulations for being a filthy pirate! You disrespect the copyrights of dozens of MSX companies, and disrespect the MSX scene. You're just a w4R32d00D who doesn't care.

I think your music is good, and I said that several times. However, I felt that 7 posts in 7 days was too much and expressed it to the maintainers of MRC. This is not your fault and I did not attack you for it.

There's a MSX related forum and this thread is not there, you're already off topic.

What exactly changed in the world? There are people that think MSX is a waste of time, there have always been people like that. Please go play with them, because this very statement is again insulting.

You don't love MSX, you're just a narcisistical (and pardon my french) SOB.

And to top it off: With renewed interest from Japan in the MSX system, and the fact that Japanse companies like Bothec/Egg and konami rereleasing old games to get money to put in new projects, some of them MSX and MSX related, you don't get my respect for your rom site. Because harm is done this way, to these projects. Ah well, you will probably find out sooner or later.

Of course you got my respect for your MSX related projects and your musical re-arrangements. And because most of your posts do make sense and contribute to msx.org. Your probably not a bad guy.Only need to mature a little I'm afraid.

BTW: I really don't understand the people here who want their music published on on of the top 3 rom sites on the net. I personally wouldn't want to connect my name with it, maybe times have changed indeed. But then, I'm only good at doing some progressive music accoording to some people.
