I could make the gfx and musics!

i have an idea for a classic remake of nemesis1,2,3&salamander together in one new
game.

but.............
only gfx & music willnot make a game.

is there somone out there who has the knowledge to program a level editorthat can use 16x16 pixel tiles to create levels?and to put the player and enemy sprite's in place?

and a question for you snout............. can u rip the scc songs out of nemesis 1,2,3,samamander cardridge ??? so that its usable for the in game music????
that would it make more original.

level editors (or better: map editors) are best done on PC.
There are already quite a few map editors available. Also a few nice ones for GBA, I'm not sure if they can be used for MSX...

For the rest, yes there are V9990 developers left
I'm one, and there are several others in #msxdev @ Rizon.

From what I hear, there are enough game ideas too. Although most people are wrapped up in other projects right now. But if you can create graphics and music, that's really cool, coz lately there seems to be a shortage of (especially graphic) artists

I'm about to publish a V9990 programmers manual on MSX Banzai! which hopefully will allow programmers to better understand the chip, as the original Yamaha documentation is quite confusing at times.

AH! You found the BLUR-filter!
I hope that's a joke, because those graphics are in no way 'redesigned'

Redesigned graphics!!!????

If you want to get that "super V9990 graphics", you can play Nemesis with BrMSX and select EAGLE screen mode. It uses a filter that gives the same results. Please be serious about development! I don't want blur graphics, I want original graphics.

And, by the way: wouldn't it be better to code first a really GOOD GAME that uses all V9958 potential? At the moment, only SONYC makes use of some features. There are no new games for V9958 really interesting!

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

Another good idea (in my opinion) is to make a game with two game engines: one for v9958 and one for v9990. That way people can have either one of them, and you could make use of useful features like the smooth scrolling and high-color modes (I believe the Gfx9000 has modes similar to screens 11-12 of the v9958). Maybe throw in some extra bonus stuff for v9990 users.

I certainly have something like that in the planning for after my current project. Now that I mention it, the parts I'm working on of my current project (in particular: the demo's) will make use of some specific v9958 features too. But it will still work on the v9938, just a little less flashy in some cases.

It does look better!
Unfortunately, you ripped that picture from the Arcade version of Nemesis.
Please don't be a lamer.

yess indeed
but it looks better and why should i dont use ripped gfx
you know for yourself how hard it is to create a game.
and designing new gfx takes a long time do you wanna wait 5 years???????????

o.O It takes you 5 years to draw some new graphics?!
Besides, the 'graphics' you show cannot be implemented on V9990 like that, so I really don't see your point.
You said you could "create graphics", but all I see is you're a master of the blur-filter.
