See if all the screws are tightened. That might help. Sounds can also be caused be the aluminum casing of the drive. You can check this by pressing down on is while the drive loads. If this helps, either fix the casing properly (somehow) or remove it alltogether.

I wouldn't... As long as you don't get any read errors, you're more likely to do harm than good by cleaning them. The 'buzz' is caused by the floppy most of the time, not by the drive. Try buying a brand new disk and see how it does reading that. Usually they'll be a lot more silent. But like I said, don't touch the heads unless you're actually having trouble with data errors.

Try comparing with other MSX turbo R machines. If they're more quiet you might want to do something about it. The turbo R drives are a bit noisy by default. It has become typical for those machines to 'buzz' reading a disk.

I've an A1ST too, but my FDD is even more silent than the brand new drive of my NMS8245... The A1ST is in mint condition as well ^^;. So it could be your FDD might be a little too noisy. But as Sonic_aka_T says, you're likely to do more harm than good by attempting to clean the FDD's heads.

Maybe your drive belt is not the right one.
You need exactly the original size.
