Hi everyone,

My problem is that I have a Sony Hb700f with 2 cartridgeslots but none seems to work, I have tried several cartridges that well will work on other msx systems.
My question: is that a well know problem with this computer (or any msx) and can it be fixed because I really need those slots...

Erhm... maybe you should try peeking if the ribbon cable ain't broken or disconnected? Without spoiling the F700, of course

Checked the cable allready and it´s definitely ok

Did you visually check it? O did you check if each cable is indeed ok? It doesn't happen often, but I have had ribbon cables in which only one wire failed without much of a visual indication. I don't know the Sony model, but some cartridge connectors have solder joints on the print that might fail. Have you checked those? (if applicable)

I checked the cables electronicaly, so they are definitely ok !!!

Any chip failure that can cause this ?

there or three chips with the 74lLS367
these are in the neigherhood of the slotconnectors.
replace this chips (about 3 euro) and it is fixed

watch out, the print is very week. Solder not hotter as 350 degrees

No problem, I´ve allready soldered many Computers and none of them died because of that

Good luck doesn't last forever , but I assume you know what you're doing...

That always works for me...

PS: Both on the cartridge slots as on the cartridge.
