I found this game again... I remember, that I actually liked this game quite a lot, when it was new (about 15 years ago) and I know, that at least Pitpan likes this game as well :-)

Now I tried to play it again and remembered, why it was so hard... You can't play on keyboard and when you use joystick, you still need keyboard to lay down as it does not support second joystick button. *sigh*

Now all these development errors are history and I've uploaded the fixed version to funet.

Ps. Now there is also a way to get 99 credits, go and find the cheat :-9

This is one of the games that NEED to be remaked for MSX2, don't you think so??

Actually I think, that it is very playable even on MSX1 as it is. It would be nice, if you would not need hitting items on that much accuracy, but otherways I like the game as it is. Sure, the graphics are in 8*8 blocks, but it is still playable. I also like the computer intelligence. Computer opponents are difficult enough to beat.

I liked that game on my msx-1 in the 80´s, and was irritated that it was just one more crap straight forward spectrum conversions... music was great thought! but why msx-2 remake?? why not make MSX-LOOK-A-LIKE msx-1 remake ... I think that msx-1 DESERVES to get msx-1 remakes of all good spectrum-conversion games (aka bad graphics, nice game) , instead of just making remakes for superior msx-2... why everybody must drool msx-2 ???!! it seems like almost everybody shames the fact that msx-1 is also msx-machine....

In the 80´s I really hated to see that almost all new (and old too...) msx-games were just loyal 48K spectrum translations... only the music was better than 48K beep... there were SO MANY games, which were not too difficult to make look like MSX game should look like!!! but not!! of course they were made in spectrum loving way!! And I can´t be the only one who hated to see all those crap spectrum conversions ... so at last... now it´s the time to make colourful msx-1 remakes to praise that glorious old machine!!!!

Good job, Nyyrikki! I will play it hard as soon as I finish all the MSXdev'04 entries! VERY BUSY right now!

I agree with you, MaSaXi. But it is not an easy job, you know.

I wrote about an MSX2 remake because it could look much better than one made for MSX1, but if anyone makes a decent remake for MSX1, I'd be also happy!!

By the way... have you tried to run this game in R800 mode??

I agree with you, MäSäXi. In fact, I worked in some MSX1 graphic adaptations of some spanish spectrum games like "Saimazoom", "Babaliba", "Phantomas" in order to convert them to MSX... But there is no time for all projects, now we are focused in our MSXdev'04 entries. Perhaps, in the future, we'll see these games working!.

I wonder more, why to even make this good MSX port, if you then don't bother to make reasonable controller support??? I remember that worst conversions had weird keys mapped as cursors. Funny thing is, that for example in this case POKE &HD7FD,&H3F: POKE &HD80B,&H30 would have been enough to get the joystick working... I anyway ended up to recompile whole loader as I wanted to add keyboard support as well.

Yeah, makes it a bit harder :-)

I don't think the game is that difficult... if you feel in a danger situation, just lay down and let the rest of the pigs fight between them.

I remember I finished this game some time ago, also playing in R800 mode...

I knew 'Psycho Pig UXB' was a conversion (I don't know if legal or not) from 'Butasan' arcade game. By the way, the original game wasn't a graphic prodigy, I you ask me... very easy to convert to MSX2... the main problem is how to move/control all those pigs and bombs quick enough... ASM is needed for sure...

Nyyrikki, is your patch only in 'incoming'??... no permission there...

move all those pigs ??
did you ever notice the amount of sprites moving at once in some games such as Aleste 2?

Of course the way is ASM...
Do you know any other way to create a good game?

what about doing "upgraded spectrum version" adding sprites to make pigs colourful for msx-1 ? of course game is flickery then, but so are many other msx-1 games .. and bombs can still be made without sprites...

I agree, msx version of psycho pigs uxb is not very hard, because you can just lie on the ground until all other pigs have killed each others...
