@ Wolf: How long will it take to judge this new contest? Or will you be a contestant as well? |

If you're referring to the Italo chalenge, it's already been judged. But there are some inside issues that are slowing publication things and other long scheduled activities down.
As for being a contestant: dunno. I wouldn't mind joining in again, but I also wouldn't mind not doing so, if that would motivate ppl somewhat more but all that is a bit double and a bit uncomfortable I think. |

Hmm so it's essentially that scene remake thing that was done some time back ?
and covers can be done on non msx systems too ?

Like it! But I think it's smart to do this contest after all the current contests. |

Afaik, atm only that Megachallenge (see banners) is going on, which is to end halfway 2008. You can consider Italo 'done', waiting is on the results.

Yes I know, but I think that a lot of people are busy with that Megachallenge and don't want to do another challenge at the same time. But maybe I'm wrong on this.

How long would you need for a scene remake? I'd say something like that usually takes up 1..3 days. 3 days on nearly a whole year is zippo. Every composer could do a challenge like this between other challenges.

Yes, that's right. Maybe I am only thinking about my own situation (little kid, full time job, etc.). The last challenge I entered (you know which one ) took me almost a month because my time is so limited. |

This challenge is easier to do however, as you're not tight to your MSX setup.

That's right. Haven't touched my MSX in about 3 months but somehow I manage to compose on my pc almost every week. So... BRING IT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

My MSX is only switched on when I need a tune for a challenge or when there's extensive testing. Last time it was switched on was a few days prior to the initial Megachallenge deadline, before that: RNFF (end of 2006), before that: testing my G9k, before that: UU (end of 2005). So, maybe it's blasphemy, but cross development really took over here.. |

Same here. I am busy making 3D models (of characters I have designed for a new MSX game) on pc so I can render them in screen 5 (took me a month to get the right settings in Cinema 4D without strange dithering and loss of colors). Gonna be a great technique for creating introdemo's and such. Cross development RULEZZZZ!!!!! |

some idea but I dunno how feasible it is... I know that some games on the sega megadrive used prerendered 3d, then converted into sprites.
good examples of these games are sonic 3d blast and vectorman. Basically it was done in 3d first, then brought back to sprites.
Would that be something msx 2 or so could handle ? or has it been done before ?

Oh, so you want it it to be a contest once more?
It's all good..
Until now I was only thinking about the 'fun' of arranging and hearing back the results of some 'classics' once created by any of all of us crossed-over-half-inbred-MSX-community composers.
[edit] Gawd, it's hard gettin' yer point typed out sometimes... [/edit] |
