The Aackosoft copyrights were bought by none other than Steven Vanhetgoor (MSX Mozaik)

Oh, by the way... I guess that Ronald does not knows anything about what happened later... Later he moved to many other plataforms, like the SNES, Amiga and PC.

Leandro - I'm planning to phone Steven later today. If you have any questions you'd like to ask him or would like him to contact you, please send your questions to snout@msx.org and I'll ask them for you.

I don't think he would mind a remake of Skooter at all, but I can safely say he would not be willing to drop the copyrights of the game completely...

He's not planned for the next challenge, but we might ask him to do some future challenges indeed

Well, I do not want anybody to drop Skooter's copyrights. I only want to be sure no copyright holder of a very old game will send me a "cease and desist" for releasing a remake. Just remember that my remake will be a freeware. Unless the copyright holder decides to publish it.

I'll ask Steven what his feelings are towards the Skooter remake and let you know what he thinks about in by e-mail. Knowing Steven, I don't think you have to worry a lot

Thanks a lot, Snout.

By the way, I implemented collision detections with the enemies yesterday. I only need to fix their AI. Actually the gameplay is not so critical, but the main problem is that last stages do need correct enemy AI to be solved.

As a kid I thought the EuroSoft/AckoSoft games were mediocre. In retrospect however, some of their games were really polished and fun to play. Skooter, Breaker Breaker (or Break-in) amongst others were quite nice actually.

Methodic Solutions also spawned from Aacko, didn't it? Hard Boiled and Gutt Blaster were ace, even then!

I do agree with Thom opinions... Most of their games were shameful rip-offs of already known games, only with voice. But still, Skooter, Hype, and Break-in were really cool games.

Is it true that "Oh, Shit" was forbidden in Europe?

And what was the objective of "Hard Boiled"? I kept wandering all the time in that game.

Afaik Oh, Shit! wasn't forbidden in Europe. At least, I recall me having it on tape... Gave it away to a friend of mine, who probably still has it. But I could be wrong.

Skooter and Breaker-Breaker are true gems in my ever so humble opinion. The time I spent playing 2-player Breaker-Breaker with the guys from Compjoetania

Too bad Cees Kramer doesn't really make games anymore, the last thing I ever saw of him (in terms of product) was a Defender (Desolator) remake for CD-I...that was in 1995 I think. Not sure if Philips ever released it.
