Perhaps it would be an idea to have people make a contemporary musical track on PSG,SCC & FM PAC and the best 3 (or) will be played on the next airwaves show in februari, on Enschede FM's radiostation and online... I'll also post the idea at VORC: who can make a decent drum & bass, electro, acid, house or techno track using the above specs?
I know that on the c64 a lot of people do this, but I haven't heard it much on the msx in recent times,or I might have been missing out on it.
Bandwagon is a pretty good example of making that sort of music with just the PSG, but let's allow other msx standards (and moonsound doesn't count )like fm pac and msx audio, scc too.
I heard there's a new msx magazine in Japan from Grauw, perhaps people can contribute to it with sending in tracks? There must be skilled people out there making cool demos, cool music and cool games !!!

eh yeah sorry,lost myself there

So,a compo...is that an idea?

deadline would be..... 10th of februari....

For that retro d&b sound we prolly need some other tracker than the ones we're used to.
Not many MSX games or demos feature those typical c64 chipsound methods.. MSX music was more based on real 3-channel music, like how Bach made them .. just 3 instruments, no arpeggios, no freaky drums hidden in melody-lines, no other tricks etc. etc.

Ah, but that's only because there is no MSX tracker that supports arpeggio's. , freaky drums etc etc :/

For creating psg music you can use Vortex Tracker 2. This is an advanced tracker that runs on a windows machine. I ported the player for the pt3 files to msx (and used it in blend); you can download that player here. The Navodad MuSiXmas entry is another example that was made with this tool.

Oh no,no tricks, just a bit more contemporary then those old FAC tunes (which are still pretty darn cool though)...I mean quarth to me sounds very much like it...doesn't need to be PSG though...it's more the idea of sound or minimal approach...depending on the style that is ^^..electro is often about simple things...and hey, ambient is permitted too...oh come one people I know y'all can do it !

Well, bandwagon manages to do it in 3 channels too...And some crazy japs use the Moonsound for it too, so let's allow it as well...

I can made perfectly a modern song with my MSX 2 and the FM-PAC. Now I am composing some new songs and I have a nearly 30 min album only made with FM PAC. Also remember that I won the 8 BIT MUSIC COMPO in the BCN PARTY...

There we go...I was wondering about more contemporary stuff actyally, since most of the music I heard came from demos, and I personally don't count covers of jarre songs (come on people, his best days are over) as realy new... I was just wondering in general how much new music stuff is added in the scene, and as an example I mentioned the x-2004 on the 64...or listen again to the AY riders stuff, who are more then active on their spectrums....
I want songs dammit ^^
