MSX is mentioned in a Gradius V review in the latest issue of the Dutch anime and Japanese pop-culture magazine Aniway. The first couple of lines of the review:

‘Een eenzaam ruimteschip dat het opneemt tegen een hele vijandelijke armada....het concept van de klassieke shoot-em-up. Helaas is dat concept de laatste jaren ietwat uit de gratie geraakt en moeten de echte shooterfans goed zoeken naar games uit dit genre.’

‘Gradius (of Nemesis voor mensen die de MSX een warm hart todragen) is zo’n klassieke shoot-em-up. Sinds 1985, toen het arcade-origineel het licht zag, zijn er verscheidene Gradius vervolgen en spin-offs uitgekomen. offtopic to Grauw. Gradius V has been here for months. It just that your average crappy toy/music store like Bart Shit doesn' t stock it.
Rumours that it was discontinued in Europe directly after release is also untrue.
And just to be complete. Konami has just finished there european Gradius V high score competition.
IF people are looking for this game try NEDGAME (however you can allways have the change that they run out of stock. But so far they allways got new ones.)
or Dimension Plus. Or some other good gamestore !
Also BOL(english) and Proxis(french and Dutch)and NLstore claime to be able to sell this on. I say claime because NLstore has a quite bad reputation of liisting hard to get games which they in the end can deliver.

Yes, Robert, shortly after I wrote that I ordered Gradius V on bol.com (along with Dancing Stage Fusion, also difficult to find!). I just got a note that they have sent the game, so the 2-3 days delivery time they mentioned seems to be correct. Quite weird that the distribution is so bad, because the game got raving reviews everywhere!

After the game got a review in OPM2, I went to several stores multiple times, ranging from MediaMarkt to e-games (or whatever the name is, I forgot), and each time they didn’t have the game in stock nor had information on when it was released and where to order it. Maybe the game never got a Dutch release, so the Dutch distributors don’t offer the game, and the availability on Bol.com is actually a UK version...?

Description: Every now and then the controversial Dutch weblog Geenstijl organizes so-called 'Feauteauf*ck'-competitions, in which their visitors are encouraged to do some neat photoshopping, often mocking some recent events in the media. This time the maker of the magazine 'Bright', Francisco van Jole, is reason for mockery, as he published a rather silly article on DNS-spoofing, getting a lot of media-attention by pretending it was something new. The goal for the photoshop-contest: to create a cover of the new edition of Bright, with lots of other outdated news. One of them features MSX
