Hello MSX fellows,

I am gonna travel and stay a week in my farm, and I am going to take my MSX there. But in the farm there is no PC computers, and I want to draw some pictures and compose some musics for my first demo I am planning.

So what I ask you guys is what are the best MSX2/2+ drawing and PSG/MSX-MUSIC composing softwares that works with only 64KB RAM mapper.

I tried some and really liked the Saurus series, but they require more than 64KB. And there are so many other programs that trying every one to finally choose the best would take too much time (I have only 2 days).

Also, I would prefer a program with good interface and beginner friendly than some thing very complex like Fuzzy Logic`s Oracle.

Thanks.

When it comes to graphics on MSX, AGE is an essential. There is no substitute

For music, that's a bit more difficult, as I expect Fac Soundtracker and Moonblaster to require 128kB. If you're not afraid of MML, Musica really is a great program in which you can do about anything with the MSX-MUSIC. The PSG part of Musica is not as good, though, as only ordniary square waves can be used.

If Oracle works with 64k (not sure), I think it will be worth playing around a bit (a lot) with this tracker, as its capabilities sound great to me. Keep in mind though: there's no external replayer for Oracle files.. yet...

How much ram do Synthsaurus (bleh!) and Tyfoonsoft's Pro-Tracker require?

Synthsaurus = Japanese, so I think it will work with 64k

Yesterday I tried Oracle and in the loading process it says that it is needed 128KB RAM.

About Saurus, it aways hang on logo screen on my WSX, and I discovered that it needs more than 64KB (I think it needs 256KB).

What I really needed is a memory upgrade, but I am having hard time finding 256x4 memory chips here in my city.

Well, in the worst case, I can always draw sprites in a squared paper and then write the color bit number over each square and hand put it to be assembled. But I can`t do the same with music, even because, apart from that I can play some musics in a keyboard, I know nothing about music, can´t even read a track in a music book.

I will look forward AGE. Thx every one.

PS: Anyone know a good dummie music tutorial?

PS2: My WSX has a drawing software that comes in the bundle, but I found it to be not that good and I don`t think it can be used to make some serious drawing, it is only to be used with the hand printer, much like windows paint.

dunno of any tutorial .. most ppl -if not all- just learnt it the trial&error way..

*most ppl without a manual* (kuch)

depending on which tracker you'll use, let's assume a vertical tracker:

The famous sonate by Mozart:

That's the main difference in layout, for the rest tracking isn't that complex..
