Ok, from what I gathered, there isn't really much to expect in this area, but I'm trying to look for the best attempt at a shell/gui that works with DOS2. I guess an "Ease for DOS2" would be great but sadly it doesn't exist. Also, I don't have a GFX9000....
I tried MSX Windows and that's a nice novelty but not quite usable....
I was wondering if there's anything else out there that's worth trying, and if there is, where or how I could acquire it.

I don't know anything about HD-Menu, but at least I know MultiMente is Public Domain. I could send you one by e-mail, if you want to...

If it's public domain, shouldn't we place a nice distribution package in the downloads database? I was working on a nice shell by the way, but wolf won't allow me to finish it... Such a pity, really....

HD-Menu is a very good gui! It's a pity that there are no new versions And yes... why there is not a EASE DOS2?

Yours,

PD: Hope this year some developper will do a new gui... (please, please)

Why would you want it? It won't make you browsing directories in ease orso, so I guess you'd better leave it at MM or (better, if I might say so), MultiMente

MultiMente just r0X0rz!

Ease and Easy aren't the same thingy... Ease was the program that came with most Philips NMS computers sold in the Netherlands. It's pretty cool btw, but doesn't work with DOS2/HD/CF...

At the time that Philips quit supporting MSX, they gave EASE to the PTC (PTTC) so they could maintenance the package, but I never heard that they don something with. Indeed, it would be nice if someone should upgrade EASE with support for MSX-DOS 2.X
b.t.w. Didn't windows 3.x looked very similar to Ease?

I've tried hdmenu, multi mente and easy...

Well, Easy is I guess, the best looking one, but you also notice this in performance (Ah well, the 7mhz switch comes to good use here);
HDMenu still looks good though, and is faster.
MultiMente has the most basic look, but it's also the most useable without mouse; many games sadly won't control properly with the mouse attached (if anyone knows a solution for that, I'm all ears).
MM kinda reminds me of norton commander

When it comes to functionality, MultiMente is imho the best choice. It's highly customisable as well!
