Dear friends:
Is there any new project for the ILAC (Internestor Lite Applications Contest)? The only one is the superb Fudebrowser of RicBit (hope he will finish the web-browser).
Remember that the projects are for INTERNESTOR LITE, not for the forthcoming OBSONET, and they can be a big HELP for all the MSX users, specially the users who have a RS-232 or will buy a OBSONET....

I think it's a small 'chicken or egg' problem, similar to the one the GFX9000 had. People want to get their hands on an Obsonet cartridge first, before they want to develop software for it. People only want to buy an Obsonet cartridge when there already is software for it. As the Obsonet cartridge will not be very expensive and there already is a cool set of basic tools available (InterNestor Lite and perhaps, one of the ILAC projects: FudeBrowZer) I do not worry too much about this yet.
Still, it would be cool to see some more ILAC enties. What's keeping you, guyz? You can win a turboR! And... the stuff works on RS232 as well |

Is there any news yet on getting this thing emulated? Is there enough technical information available to emulate obsoNET?

I'm asking 'cause I wouldn't mind making Settlers of Catan for MSX if I could perhaps get some help with the whole TCP/IP crap... Not too sure on how that all works... Ofcourse if I could get a few pointers, I might be able to miscode something...

The programs are for INTERNESTOR LITE, not for the obsonet exlusively. As you know, you can use INL with a normal rs-232. If there is any emulator who emulates the rs-232 by sunrise, you'll be able to use it.

With networking it's not so clear how to emulate it.
I can think about the following possibilities:
1) Emulating RS232 directly by attaching emulator to PS's COM port
2) Emulating RS232 virtually using some pipe file(s) so 2 emulators can talk one with another
3) Emulating obsoNET the way VMWARE does - so you can just connect your PC's network card to some ethernet network (which can include real obsoNET as well)
4) Emulating obsoNET virtually (see 2) just like 2 emulated MSX machines are connected with cross wire or via hub
If you will ask me about network emulation of Yamaha MSX2 Network module using MSX-Link developed by tnt23, there are even more possibilities that require a very different emulation...
In other words, what kind of emulation would make sense for developers ? For others ?
