The most complete pack I've bought:

ELITE (1988) Box
One cassette Tape
Ship Identification Chart
The Dark Wheel (a short novel)
Space Traders Flight Training Manual
Quick Key Control Guide

A great game!

“Kinderen van de wind” (Children of the wind).
A game in Dutch based on a comic book, which is included in the package.

Arc came with a ROM cartridge (copyprotection)

I'd like to know what the actual copy protections looks like (circuit diagram type). Might be very interesting to see and to implement in the several MSX emulators.

I haven't checked it out, but by the weight I'm guessing it's filled up with epoxy like the dongle. However, if I'd do something like that myself, I'd put code in the rom which was made extremely dependent on the external slot. Making it a very tedious job to crack. An emulator would have no problem with that though.

Opening up (rather) rare cartridges is not my favourite pasttime. Maybe Cas (Cremers) can tell us how it worked?

My Ys 3 came with a cardholder and 6 or 7 cards with anime drawings from the characters on it which you can put in the cardholder...

And Ys 3 also came with a grey mousepad with a cartoonstylish Adol on it...

My Jagur 5 comes with an envelope with a few loose papers which are what I think profiles of the five team members. I think the envelope says something like 'clasified' or so. Having the box in front of me I see JAGUR stands for Jef, Anne, Gaudic, Ukon and Roger which are the names of the five team members.

My japanese Thexder copy came with a poster (a3 format), which is also the manual (on the back).

I already asked him because I wanted to implement the protection in openMSX, like I once did for the T2SE dongle
Unfortunately, he couldn't help me. But he suggested to contact the HW creators of that cartridge. Those are the same guys who did the stereo FM-PAK. Weren't they called the brothers Jansen and Jansens? (Or was that in TinTin
Does anybody have their current contact info?

PS: There are rumors that the code for the music replayer has been stored in that cartridge also.

We sold 'RUBY & JADE' at the Zandvoort fair in '97, our 'weird items' when somebody bought a game were: CHEWING GUM BALLS (1 RED + 1 GREEN in a plastic bag)

For those who don't know the game ( which I can't imagine BTW ) :

You had to drop balls from the top of the screen and while these were falling you could collect points.

and.. Guess what? These balls were RED & GREEN

Bas: 'a copy of...' is ordinary English. It doesn't mean the magazine was copied/not original.

Transl to Dutch: 'een exemplaar van'....

just in case
