Help !!!
I have been working on a spacemanbow clone in basic for a while now.
So far, everything was perfect, speed was fast (nbasic), music was there.
However I have been working on emulators only (Nlmsx and RuMsx)
Having compared other games in the same configuration I saw that
my own game was running at the same speed,
And there is an option which says (run as same speed as Msx)
All this was good, untill yesterday I run the game on the Msx of a friend
of mine, and I was surprised to see that it went slow......
But not just slow...... really slow. And without nbasic it was barely moving at all.
I realised that the reason might just have been his msx, because he had other problems with it as well (gradius3 legenz had huge problems with scrolling),
and, I think his msx had problems with nbasic in general...... I dunno thoug.
My question, could you please try this game on your msx, I´d like to know how it works on different msx´s (msx2, 2+ and turbo R (d-tail??) )
Link 1 is the .dsk file for emulators.
Link 2 is the .zip file (the separate files to put on a disk)
Thanx, and let me know how it works (speedwise) !!!

Just to make sure, when you used the emulator, did you emulate a turbo R machine or an MSX 2 machine ? A real (and emulated) turbo-R is about the equivalent of a 28 MHzMSX2 (instead of the regular 3.58 MHz Z80)
VDP wise this isn't the case, but since I assume that the nbasic uses a large amount of CPU instead of VDP....

I emulated using Turbo-R, msx2+ and msx on the pc.
but no problems with all three of them.

The used emulators (and especially RuMSX) are not the best for the accuracy.
You should test your program on blueMSX or openMSX.

Will check how playable it is on the NMS8245 and report back in let's say 10 minutes.
I can't check on the TURBO-R GT because the diskdrive is still screwed. (NO time to fix that one )
Okay it looks slower on the nms8245 as on rumsx. Still the speed is playable ( so it's not like
Guido Lost in Plantinus, which I think wasn't playable.) SPeed doesn't affect the
game play so far. (It's not that slow on the nms 8245 as the above suggests)
One thing I notice the more there is on screen the more slowdown there seems to be.
Also I do have a very static background feeling. I don't have a feeling like the ship is
really thrusting to the left side. Like space manbow and others have. It might be because it's not finished or it might be me.

In NLMSX it works brilliantly... Great effort, norakomi! |

I've made a comparison by testing the game on RuMSX, NLMSX and blueMSX.
I confirm that the speed of the game is really too fast on RuMSX and a little too fast on NLMSX . These emulators have a very simplified emulation of the VDP (especially RuMSX).
On blueMSX, I notice that it's faster on a Turbo-R than on a MSX2 or 2+. See above the answer of turbor for the explanation.

Ok, that sounds a bit reasuring.
The speed changes when more object are in the screen is just a thing I haven´t worked on yet (easy to change though).
And the background scrolling (some stars in the background which makes it look like you´re actually flying) is also a thing I didn´t start on yet.
First things first.
Good, so Bluemsx is more accurate.
There is hope.
It was such a shock to see the game on a real msx2. It went so slow.
