| Might sell a NMS8250....

Right now I have 2 MSX machines; a VG8235 and an NMS8250. Because I mainly use the MSX to occasionally plug a game rom or disk in nowadays, I'm considering selling the 8250 (as the 8235 is more easy to, say, "pick up and play"
I bought this 8250 from Bas' stand at Tilburg a few years ago...
oh, btw, it says 8255 on the back, I think....dunno if that makes a whole lot of difference
it has the following modifications:
-MSX2+
-512 KB Ram
-7Mhz switch
-2 DD diskdrives, fast diskrom
only thing that's "missing" is the pin49 sound modification, which about everyone (except me ) could fix for themselves. As alternative I've got a F1 spirit with volume control with it but that would add up to the price a little.
I'm not exactly sure what the current value of such an MSX is (yes, it's working fine)....
also (maybe along with it) I have a CF ATA-IDE for sale; I don't want to lose much on that as I've only had it for half a year; it's in perfect condition and not much used but I found it a bit too much hassle for me to work with, with all the mapper issues etc. I think these devices are more fit for turbo-r's or msx-users who use their msx a lot for other things than classic gaming.
If you can advise me a little on a good price to ask, or want to do an offer, or maybe even trade it for something else ((mega)rom carts are usually welcome), please e-mail me at samortails@hotmail.com , or simply reply here.
Don't go start with the "you'll regret it later"; that's why I intend to keep the other one

8255 means that it has a 2nd disk drive. But there have been a lot of 8250s/8255s mislabeled. E.g. we had an 8255 with two drives but it said 8250 on the back, and I’ve seen it the other way around as well.
Anyways, I think it’s a good decision, why have two MSXes when one will suffice . And an 8235 is quite nice (provided it’s got a DD diskdrive).
Though 7MHz and 512kB of RAM is nice... is the MSX you want to keep upgraded as well? And why one would want to sell an CF ATA-IDE... I can’t imagine! ^_^.

well; the 8235 has indeed a DD diskdrive. It has only 128kb ram but I have a separate 4MB memory mapper. Runs most stuff that I like that way. I hardly run any 2+ or 7mhz software so I won't miss that.
However, that memory mapper + cf ata ide works really, really bad (I guess the fact it's a 4MB mapper is partly the issue here), and even IF it worked better, I'd actually need a slotexpander and I don't feel like spending on one.
Then there's the DOS2 mapper issues; on the 8250, even when using map.com many disk versions of megarom games (you know, the salamander.001 - salamander.00F) don't work properly (some do, some don't), and all I wanted it for was the convenience. There are some fancy tools that kinda fix that but they're TR only, and I don't have one of those either
(note: I've been told the memorymapper can be modified to allocate just 2MB but it's probably too complex for me to alter anyway ) |

Samor - strange, I have little problems with my harddisk (DOS 2) and some cracked megaROMs. map.com fixed it all the time. You don't want to use those TR only tools for this (I guess you mean a disk drive emulator). It's not necessary! |

(^_^) just let Samor read this...
I want it mainly to play some games, I don't think I can code anything in ASM, but I have some sort of 'competition' with one of my friends which is to make a 'telnet' to a machine in our univ with the oldest system.
At the moment, he is winning with an Amiga 1200 ('92), but with that MSX2 I could beat him
Ah, and then I'd need salamander to have the Nemesis saga complete (I own Nemesis 1, 2 and 3) and maybe Parodius.
Then I could die |

I've contacted Konamiman, to see if I can get a ObsoNET, and then the MSX, of course... I'll mail Samor, as he hasn't read this yet :-)
