Does anyone have a free library of sprite animations to be included in platform games under development?
I have been looking on internet for free graphic libraries with sprite animations but, the results of my research are very poor.
I would like to find large (16x16 pixels) and complex animation of at least 16 or 32 frames per object and 3 colours per line.
The current scenario is very fuzzy so any style, concept or whatever is fine, the problem could be the palette which has been selected for the background, but this also can change without problems (Lego stage of Total Parody background).

hm.. I doubt you'll find something here. There aren't that many msx drawing-artists around, those who were/are good usually focus(ed) on fullscreen images, gametiles and bitmap game-sprites (like RPG characters). But a *good* fluid sprite animation .. well, I can't recall an msx game with that. Even the state-of-the-art Konami titles have fairly simple sprite-movements. Take Vampire Killer or Usas, good sprite-figures for a platformer, but no real animation! Perhaps 3 or 4 frames .. but surely no 16 or 32.. I can't even recall a game with a sprite that has like 8 animation-frames orso, let alone 16 or 32!
I bet it's because there are little or no character-animation apps on MSX .. it's something on my todo-list btw, but let's not shout a releasedate yet. ^_^

I remember MSX1 10th Frame. The first time I played that game I was amazed with that incredibly fluid animation.

dioniso: Me too! I was amazed about the animations, BUT I figured out how to always get a strike, and then that game was ruined for me Decathlon also had really good animations. |

I DO not have artistic capabilities and I do not have a real concept design for the new Total Parody.
All what I have in mind (and in the code, even if it is still not fully implemented) is that I can have a platform with those technical characteristics:
1) up to 10 objects with 3 colour displayed on the same screen, included border masking
2) up to 128 frames (per game level) with 3 colour that can change at full rate (1/50 sec)!!!
3) up to 40 active objects at the same time in the same level area.
About the screen I already have:
1) screen 5
2) smooth 8 direction scrolling with fully animated tiles and transparent tiles
3) parallax with 2 layers and transparent (also animated) tiles
4) PT3 music
Are you interested in having a demo of my development (as it is currently, only to give a glace I mean) ? If you like it, and you can create graphics for MSX, would you help me in the graphic and in the game design ?

I've seen T.P. years ago (wasn't it Maggoo who gave me a copy?) looked promising. I haven't touched my screen5 brush (read; age) in years and prolly won't either.

Thanks in any case, I'll try to pick up some sprite all around (in case asking owner’s permissions of course).
Should you be curious in the new code of TP (I started the code almost from scratch) let me know.
