Hi all,

Here's another topic in the series "Blimey, did you know that?".
While surfing the web to find some info on the upcoming King Kong movie by Peter Jackson, I found another Kong movie.
It turns out that our beloved (?) Konami game King Kong 2 is based on an actual movie after all.

It's called "King Kong Lives", US title "King Kong 2".
It's a made in 1986 (just like the game) and one of the main characters is called Mitchel (again, just like the game).
For me this is new, and although it has a user rating of 3.1 in the Internet Movie Database, I really would like to see it sometime to check out if us MSX-knerds can recognize more from the Konami game. Has anybody seen this movie?

That's why the game is called "King Kong 2", not because it's the second part of another game, but a direct film based game. I haven't seen the movie, but it's interesting (apart from its MSX relation) because of the appearence of Linda Hamilton, playing the role of Amy (also appearing in the game)

Anyway, stay tuned for the game retranslation. It will be released with more related stuff

I read a faq about the game;
It said the game is better than the movie (that was to be expected), and that it's very loosely based on the actual movies' story.
US produced movie, right? Makes me wonder why the game never got an English release...

I mean I'm currently retranslating the game.

That's because I made the first translation from the french version and a japanese friend told me it was totally made up, so I decided to make a new version translating directly the japanese texts (and the three different endings, btw).

Hello People,
Here in Brazil this is a quite common movie, it has been broadcasted several times in the local TV networks. Actually, when we see the opening title of the game, (Kingu Kongu - Yomigaeru Densetsu) in the copyrights we see "c) 1986 De Laurentis Enterntainment Group Inc."
I also have a version of this game for the nintendo famicom, it has some extra animations, but the convertion is not even worthy playing, since the music is horrible and there's a trend to use pink colors in the game.

I also forgot, in this version, you are Kong, not Mitchel. About the pink, a friend of mine told me it may be a problem with my cartrigde. He was right!!

it's an entirely different game too, and indeed, it's not very good.
I quite like the MSX game though.

The translation was full of mistakes and hints that didn't make sense....
