Hi all,
I just would like to re-intruce myself again after quite some years! Eight years have passed now and I can't get rid of all the fun we had. I actually think this will last a lifetime. Still it's nice to see all those die-hard MSX users still gathering here... (golden credits to msx.org)
Okay, after finishing DuckTales and some shit for Emphasys, (Hehehe, that's a compliment!) I finished my airplane electronics engineering schooling... Never started in the aviation as computers keep interesting me. So I got more interested into hardware and started working at a computer distributor as sales manager. Here I evolved myself into a bit of commercial sense, but found out my creativity wanted something else and started building this companies website. Which actually was the start of getting into DTP. Still this was not enough and found a more creative job at the graphics card manufacturer Club 3D.
Here I’m working as the designer for packages, advertisements, website... Actually everything. If you ever bought a Club 3D graphics card, Jetsoft did the package (products starting from april ‘04) and also the Club 3D Joker.
In the meantime I have also done some freelance tasks for Gamica, a mobile phone game company, but this turned out to be too difficult combining it with my fulltime job.
In my spare time I still do some funny anime style illustrations and I just started my own “marktplaats” www.dienst.nu, which is a marketplace not for articles, but only for services.
I’m now becoming dad for the second time in September and just moved to Nieuw Vennep.
So, that’s a short description of how all it went in the past years. But at least it could have been interesting reading it.
Conclusion… MSX didn’t do a lot for me, it still does!

Oh, by the way... I forgot to mention some things:
Real name: Richard Stoffer
Done: DuckTales, Emphasys GPD, Coverflow! and some tasks for MCCM/Sunrise/ROM/MSX Mozaik...
Groups: Overflow!, Emphasys
I also thank the MSX for turning me completely into anime style drawing, not that DuckTales is a good example, but at least these ducks also had big eyes. To prove I'm still drawing, but not pixeling anymore, I can share my latest wallpaper.

Nice one, Richard!
Ever thinking of pixelling for the MSX-scene again? From what I gathered, most developers are dying for a good graphician... You are one! |

oh btw, risto: ... that MCCM-back with the animebabe in red bathsuite on the beach, with the beachball, was a copy of a certain Cindy Crawford pose ... but I wonder how many ppl know that |

Pixeling, hehehe... Well actually I did some recent pixeling work for some mobile phone games. But Photoshop pixeling is still not as quick as GraphSaurus. ^_^ What I mostly do now is to retouch resized work. But actually I never got an offer to pixel again...
Very good Wolf! You're competely right! The red bathing suite model was Cindy. Hehehe. Her butt was the best... At that year... If I would have done the bathing suite in another color, no-one would have noticed, hahahaha... Actually I copied the Peach-Up VDP scroll... I liked that one so much!!!

hm.. I don't think the color would matter..

It's that suit, the curve of the suit, below the backspine.. it was just too good. Drawing 'correctly' curved clothing sux even harder than drawing eyes or hairs I think |

Cool to seeing this image again... I was in love with this poster as her butt almost comes out of it! The pose is great, check that wallpaper. Almost the same pose! Hahaha, I must have got the experience out out this cindy work... Actually it was quite difficult as I did it in different steps... But Frank managed to cut and past the screens together. Hehehe.
I never asked Frank Druijff, but it must be the best sold MCCM, hahaha...
By the way, if you have time... MORE REMAKES! In the past time I have downloaded some, but those are good. I like!!!!! I have become a die-hard Game OSV listener these days...

Currently coding my own tracker because IT2 gets a bit old.. when that one is finished I'll be 100x more active than last year. I actually hope the new tracker gets done within a month orso. It's mainly up to the coder who does the audio-engine, because the pattern-editor is done for ages already..
I've re-arranges projects in my head for years already.. just couldn't be arsed to do them. Xak123 would be on the list, as well as Nemesis123. Recently I thought of another Starship Rendez-vous tune... anyway ... let's wait a bit more. I've become more of a theorethical thinker than a practical do'er lately.
Nonetheless, can you write some tut on how to *paint* (how to fill-in) own anime? I've made an app myself to perfectly draw/rip anime... the outlines that is, fully list-of-beziers-controlled so everything can be moved around.. but painting is a suckjob! Not to mention the fact that I just didn't even start with painting something as a test, because I could already forsee it would suck. Main issues are: how to paint the hairs and how to paint the skin (where to do shades!) |

Hmmm... I think it's an imagination issue. Also the skills need some time, but I do not really understand how you rip it. Does it mean that you only have the outlined work of do you really draw it yourself? (Cool ^_^)
I actually do not use paper anymore for creating CG, I start sketching in Photoshop, then do a rough line-art on top of the sketch and go to illustrator to create the outlines.(Awesome sharp ^_^) Export this hires to Photoshop and do the coloring/brush and effect layers.
If you could show me an example...

I take a random picture, use it as backdrop in my editor, and start pulling bezier-curves based on that picture. It's non-destructive, since I can move and reshape all those curves ... then I hide the background image, et voila ... outlines of the picture. Ofcourse, I choose to 'animise' the eyes/mouth already while pulling those curves.
Instant anime ^_^
except for the paint ._.

Okok, I'd like to see an output, then I can use it in Photoshop and, after painting, deliver the PSD file so you can see the different layers and get an idea... Would that help you out? If you can create a goodlooking vector image of a bitmap I'm also interested in this... What's the purpose of the finished image?

now with beziers on top of it ..
just the beziers.. instant anime..
except for the colors ..
Anyhoo.. it didn't take much time to make this
I was too lazy to finish the hair .. but you get the idea.. |

btw.. it isn't meant for something, I made my editor for future-purposes, like cutscenes in games orso ... but let's first start a game anyway ^_^
anyway, I rather would like to know how to typically paint anime, what drawing laws there are, etc. rather than just see *this one* painted..

Aha, so that's it! I will also create an example here, the least that I can do after all these years...
Let's do a request then... Pentaro and Fray are the favorite game characters right? I do not have material of Pentaro... What does he really look like? Or does anyone else have a nice character to do a tutorial with?
Or do you all want the MCCM Robot again? Can make a MSX '2005 wallpaper with the Robo. Hehehehe.
