Vscreen: Help needed

I realize that the progress rate of the Vscreen has been kinda slow lately. It's partially due to the amount of time I can dedicate to the project - got to work to pay the bills -, but mostly because of the "side tasks" related to the project taking more and more time. I'm talking about stuffs like creating/expanding tools like the sprite converter, level editor, BGM editor, testing, editing user manual and maintaining the web site. All these things are taking more time than initially anticipated and have a serious impact on the progress rate on the engine itself. It's one of these cases when project got too big for one person to handle

So I was wondering if there would be some people around willing to join/help on the project. I surely could use help for:

* Write/maintain a decent user manual. I can write tech docs (already got some), but nothing comprehensible by normal human beings
* Testing/reporting bugs on the tools and on the Vscreen engine.
* Help with the development of a decent BGM Editor (u know, for those smallish demos between levels), preferably working on PC like the other tools.
* In the futur, perhaps help maintain the Vscreen website (which BTW I might no longer be able to host for technical reasons).
* Help with the code of the Vscreen engine (for adding new functions, optimizing, porting to V9990, support new game types,...).

Any help/suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I'd help you out with whatever I can... If by BGM editor you mean like a 'generic demo maker' I'd be willing to give that a try... If it has something to do with music not though... t00b and the musics don't mix... I guess I could also help you with a user manual, although as a programmer I tend to speak gibberisch as well...

I think he means there are bandwith/size limits on his skynet (belgacom) account...

I'm willing to host the website for free - this offer is for every MSX project needing hosting !
I currently work as a developer for a Dutch ISP, so no problems hosting anything.

And I'm thinking about putting my home-fileserver (Win2K3, dual P3 833 MHz with 1 GB RAM, SCSI + IDE)
in the datacenter with a 100 Mbps uplink. So as long you don't need hundreds of GB data-traffic
a month and the site uses ASP, ASP.Net, SQL 2000 or HTML, I'll be glad to host the site for you.
No root-access or PHP on my server, although I might consider PHP when really required ...

Yup, I'm talking about generic demo maker here. Nothing too fancy, just enough to do permit small animations and a few simple effects. The BGM player isn't too much work (I think), but a decent editor proves to be a lot more work. We can send you by email example of what I've done so far...

For the manual, any help is truly welcome (can't be worse than my way of writing), although I know it's not a programmer's favorites thing to do

Regarding the website: I'll probably move in the coming months and will have to quit the current provider I'm using, which is also hosting my site. It's about 15MB and only uses HTML.

Afaik I'm still game for the music. I might be able to help out with the website, but since I already have a gazillion other projects to work on I'd probably better not

Like Aurora stated, hosting the files for our downloads database is not a problem, you can 'deep'link to them from your own website, saving lotsa bandwith in the progress. Hosting the website itself (or other websites, for that matter) is a service we cannot offer at the moment though, for various reasons...

Is that supposed to be a not-so-subtle-hint jorito?

Music will be the next logical step (together with GFX) to make a first complete game once all the tools and other things will be completed. Leaves you a little time to complete your gazillion projects

Maggoo, just keep me posted on any progress on that first complete game, and the music will be made. Just contact me in time, you know where to find me

Sonic: nope, that wasn't a hint, but I won't mind if you take it as one Seriously tho, apart from vscreen I have more projects going on (some remakes, some other MSX games, some MSX related stuff...)

There's still place on the msxblue.com domain

So, take eventually contact by private e-mail, I won't give here more precisions.
