mars: I don't get it. Why would you stop making suggestions here? As long as you don't expect that all of your suggestions will be implemented the next day (or ever), there's nothing wrong with it, is there?
I mean, sure, the ranking could be done differently, but it's snout's decision to do so. Maybe he has other stuff to do (he's very busy) or other more important things to implement for MRC, or whatever. It's their (MRC team) site, so who are we to complain endlessly that something should be implemented? Of course the best thing to do is implement it yourself (e.g.: on your own site), but that doesn't mean you should stop giving suggestions of course.
Just my 2 cents.

Manuel : repeating again (since 2 or 3 years in some cases) the same suggestions is meaningless (at least for me and probably for other people). Some suggestions will be indeed implemented in the future (it's a question of patience), other suggestions will never be implemented (because it's MRC choice). But as I've said : no more time for suggestions (and eventually bad feelings), time for action !

Hehe, mars2000you and snout, just relax a bit . Making a suggestion is ok and implementing it or not is just snout decision, so... where is the problem? . That "who is the evil" thing brings me memories, so why you continue the thing? . I think the better way is you both to take this conversation private and be friends again, in order love to rule earth again . Peace and MSX! |

| Sunrise, I feel hurt by you stating that we are bashing Sunrise products. Nothing could be further from the truth. I tried to explain it to BiFi, I'll try to explain it to you as well: the GFX9000 is a great product. I only had the feeling that GhostwriterP was only looking at the possibilities of adding extra colors with the GFX9000, whilst the GFX9000 has many other interesting qualities to offer. I was only pointing out that, in that light, I'd rather see a bit less colors in a GFX9000 game, revealing those other qualities.
As for the megapoll: as I posted as a reaction on the newspost over here, megapolls aren't meant to be taken that seriously. It's not a ranking list, but only a quick and dirty way to find out which one is to be considered the most important newspost of all. The unlucky newspost that met the final winner in the first round, didn't stand a chance. That doesn't mean people don't like it, it only means that people like the other news more. If you want to take any emotion out of it, please take pride in the fact that all Sunrise related news of the year was nominated.
I've known Ruud vd Moosdijk for many years now, and I'm absolutely positive that the outcome of the mega-poll does not change his motivation to finish or not finish part 3. It might have been a big boost if Arranger Platinum had turned out to become the absolute winner, but apart from that... I'm sure he can handle it. (Right, Ruud?)
As for mars2000you: sigh... MRC pretends this, MRC not objective that, MRC conspiracy bla... you're getting predictable...

I'm sorry if you feel hurt, Sunrise. It was not my intention to hurt you. Could you explain why exactly you feel hurt, as in my quote and my previous posts on the GFX9000 I ony see positive statements about the GFX9000...

First the way you say there is nothing , you know that there people are working on Blox, Sjoerd/ghostwriter working on a game ,Rudi forgot his lastname works on aGFX game. So you had put that with the story.
Second the way in general products we have you set against other products , meaning how do you draw some pairs because I donot get the feeling you do that in a honest way.Sometimes you delay new rounds giving the impression you are thinking how to fix some pairs. My suggestion to put a final between four instead of three ,no reaction or reason why you do it.That is also valid for e.g. other people who contributed to the poll by giving suggestions
As for Arranger , you as especially as a lover of music I couldnot imagine your vote and since you havenot heard a single tone or seen its layout that is far better than the highly respected bombaman |

Sunrise: I am sorry, but you have gotten the wrong impression on several occasions. Understanding where your feelings come from, please allow me to put a few things straight.
At first, I do know that there are several interesting GFX9000 projects in development, but so far there have been little releases. All I tried to express was that I am hoping for several GFX9000 projects to be finalized in the future. I understand that and why my statement could be interpreted as if I had no faith in the currently active GFX9000 projects. I'd like to stress that nothing could be further from the truth. My choice of words could have been quite a bit more careful
Second, all voting rounds in the megapoll are (and have always been) done completely at random, using Excels RAND() randomizer. The only reason why the start of several rounds of this mega-poll have been delayed quite a lot is that I have had an extremely busy time with work, college, Bazix/WOOMB, LPG and lotsa stuff in my private life. I wish I was in the position to put MRC first every day, but I simply am not. Frankly, I had quite a few weeks in which my motivation to do something for MRC was close to zero. You might have noticed that I was barely active in posting news and posting on the forum as well.
The decision to let Infinite join in the final round, and not the new batch of Moonsounds, was based on the fact that the line had to be drawn somewhere. With Infintite being voted out in the ultimate round, yet having more points altogether in all rounds, entering infinite in the final round was justified according to my feelings (especially as the One Chip MSX news was joined together), as the Moonsound news was 10 points behind and lost the final round, I decided not to let the Moonsound join in the finale. I can understand that you would have liked to see the Moonsound compete in the finale as well, but looking at the 85 other newsposts that did not make it to the finale, I think you can take pride in getting this far.
As for Arranger, I have to disappoint you: I have bought both editions of Arranger - the complete works in Bussum, and like them quite a lot. In light of what I feel to be the most important MSX news of the year, I found Dahku to be the more important one. Just like in every round of the mega-poll, every MRC visitor (including admins) is allowed to vote just the way he likes to. None of the votes is decisive on its own. My vote did not mean I dislike Arranger Complete, it only shows that I think of Dahku as more important than Arranger.

As for the GFX9000 , oke we feel the same.
As regards for the random access, let's keep that to a difference of opinion since I donot believe it has gone fair and a final between four wouldnot have made a difference. And that also seen in the daylight of being coupled to one of the three items concerning the all in one chip. Many with me think that this system you use lead or may lead to be unfair.
Neither I believe- but its your repected choice- that Dakhu is more important than arranger since dakhu is sold by Andre of Bitwise your fellow administrator |

I'm happy that I could set my remark on GFX9000 straight, yet slightly disappointed that you seem to have litte faith in my objectivity. As things are with matching the pairs for the voting round, there's little more I can do than stating that I use the RAND() feature of Excel, which I do. If I can't change your mind on that one, so be it.
As for the choice between Dahku and Arranger: to me that comes down between the choice between a new, polished MSX game from Kralizec and the re-release of music disks from the 1990s. That is not much of a choice to me, as much as I like Arranger and Zodiac.

C'mon guys. It's hard to believe how this thread has derivated in total offtopic because a bad interpretation of the megapoll meaning. I think that snout has said things clearly: megapolls are not a ranking, but just a way of get fun and a good way to have a new poll with the finalist when we are out of ideas for new polls.
mars, if you really feel that there is a need on the MSX community and that need can be covered at MSX Blue, I encourage you to implement that feature on the site; but I think that repeating I will do this because MRC doesn't is not the good way. I have never said something like I will setup a BBS because MRC doesn't.
And about Sunrise, I never felt like MRC bashed their projects... There is no point there, I think that almost every MSX user has SO MUCH to thank to Sunrise. Sunrise plays a critical role keeping MSX alive a kicking with their great hardware. I am enjoying right now the wonderful CF IDE interface (I was using Combi IDE until several months). I do not see any minimal reason because any MSX user should bash Sunrise.
So everybody, let's cold down things and try to be more positive with interpretations |

I have been running some tests lately with the LMMM command.
The results are a bit more accurate than in the first post.
8-bit mode 256x64 a stunning 26.75 kb or 107 lines.
8-bit mode 192x64 (mckin) a bit less, namely 18.25 kb or 73 lines.
4-bit mode 256x16 an impressive 20.875 kb or 167 lines.
4-bit mode 192x16 (mckin) again less, but 15.0 kb or 120 lines.
p1 mode 256x16 a small 5.25 kb or 42 lines.
(YAMAHA should defenitely have paid more attention to this mode )
Those numbers represent the number of bytes transfered in one vblank + one display period.
The accuracy is something like +512 bytes. So the number mentioned here are bottom
values. Also are these 60 Hz values. I quess multiplying with 1.2 gives you a approximate
50 Hz value.
Why only these modes? Simply because these are most likely to be game modes.
Why only 60 Hz? Well... couldn't find the PAL bit
Anyway happy gaming... |

@GhostwriterP: I always use the lineair to xy copy. It is easier with vram memory management and should be a little faster too. Could you try that too?
