Hi all,

Recently I obtained these new MSX computers from Hitachi:

Hitachi AH-200:

Arabic MSX 1. The hardware FAQ says: see Sakhr but it is really a Hitachi computer.

Hitachi MB-H3

Japanese MSX 2 with weird detachable seperate keyboard.

Unfortunately the cosmetic state is not very good and I can hardly get the surface clean. But I think they are pretty rare, does anyone know them?

Larger pictures can be found at my homepage: http://www.mellema.net/homecomputers

Non-MSX (sorry ) but for those who are interested:

Tesla PMD 85-2

Thomson TO7-70

Thomson TO7-70

Thomson TO8

Thomson TO8D

Wow, 64kB VRAM! Just the other day I was asking Quibus if such an MSX2 would actually exist or not! (must be a bummer if that were to be your 'main' MSX2 tho)

No, to be honest I was sorry that I bought six of them. As soon as the auction was finished I had regret, I spend more money than I had planned.

But Dimitri is a great guy, he gave me a reduction because of the bad cosmetic state of some computers and he gave me even 4 computers extra for free! Plus of course drinks for my wife and kids, and so on... Dimitri is really a great guy and knows what hospitality means. So the trip to Belgium was worth it.

Which machine does have 64k VRAM? And can you confirm this from the machine itself?

Indeed, interesting info!

Jetze, can I use the picture for the MSX hardware list and upload it to FUNet?

Also, are you willing to help me with some tests on that 64kB VRAM machine?

If you find other MSX machines with 64kB VRAM, let me know

Of course you can Manuel, and I'm sure that I have some more pictures of machines wich are better than or are curruntly not on Funet.

Er, that means that I have to get it from my attick and there are some more computers. Add to that that I'm very busy and still have to move some 40 MSX computer wich I showed in Bussum....

But you are welcome if you want to come by and look for the Hitachi yourself. Then you can do as much testing as you like.

Thanks!
About the Hitachi: if you haven't found it yet when I really want to do those tests, I might actually visit you indeed

Jetze: do you know the amount of RAM of the AH-200? Can you see if it's indeed based on the Hitachi MB-H21?

Some more information:

The AH-200 has built-in software:
Calendar
Graphics
Arabic writer
English writer

Basic says 28815 Bytes free, and it has 'Speed Control' (Normal, Slow 1, Slow 2). I don't know if it's based on the MB-H21 because I don't know this computer.

The MB-H3 starts with a (very slow) graphical menu with the following options:
F1: Basic
F2: ??? (a graphics program)
F3: ??? (unknown program, maybe some kind of text game)
F4: ??? (unknown program, something with a map of the world)
F5: ??? (scientific calcualtor)

Any more questions?
