Yes, what are MSX tape games which are SO GOOD that they should have been published on CARTRIDGE?
In the past, cartridge games meant BEST GAMES to me! ( Surely they meant same to you! Cartridge = universal language )
And there are lots of tape games which deserve better than "just" tape.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I start this topic for voting nothing else than.....
LAZY JONES !!!!!!!!
Your turn now! |

I am quite suspicious to talk about that since I love Spanish Games. For sure, one would be Humphrey by Zigurat

I must say, that I don´t mean underestimate tapes.
I have always used tapes for saving BASIC programs and to load games.
But as cartridges offer instant and sure loading, they are appreciated highly by people. And I just think that some games should have deserved such format as cartridge. That´s it. |

I can design a "loader" cartridge where you can convert tape games for instant loading (16 and 32K). Anyone up to creating the loader program? More than one game in each cartridge? Bankswitching? Menu program?

Hunchback, some moon lander thing, and I remember one from Activision where you have to pilot a small spaceship on an alien world through a labyrinth and return stuff to the landing ship.
And one that was like Blowup with an Egyptian theme. I recently played that one on openMSX though, so it's probably not tape.

To Masaxi: I mean the one from Zigurat. A kind of disguised Pac-man clone...
To Alexandre... PLEASE do that... IMHO a only one game per ROM would be better... Why would I like that? Because there´s an MSX emulator for the GBA coming this friday! |

Other nice games: Wec Le Mans (IMHO the best racing game for the MSX), Hundra, and After the War. |

La abadía del Crimen without any doubt, it should be published as a KONAMI RC Cartridge
Also After Burner and Gauntlet (hard to load pushing play level after level :S)

A tool to convert Tape and/or Disk would be great anyway.
Ontopic:
Hunchback always was one of my favorites.
What about a oneliner compilation ROM
EDIT -> Just found 2 BASIC program to ROM converters on
- Robsy's page www.robsy.net/basicrom.htm
- JLTusSan's page www.telefonica.net/web2/msxpage/
The last one also support BIN files. Would that be an option to convert CAS to ROM? |

I love much Hunchback´s graphics!
But I never got love with the game just because I can´t get through that swinging rope! Years ago I managed to get to other side just once. I remember it was much easier on common dore.
HOW you do it?!?!?! Please help!

With the moonlander I meant Moon Patrol.
And the map screenshot of Pastfinder looks familiar, so I have played that, but I meant a different game. Complete 2D, everything smaller, and red backgrounds.
I just remembered some more:
one where you play a monkey in very large levels and you can jump around very fast.
And one where you control a group of people and it has the background music of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata (I think).
This is a bit later though, so I would guess it's Disk/Rom... |
