When I was looking in the ROM for Sunrise IDE I saw the text "user error" and I am curious about what one has to do to get that error message...

"user error" has nothing to do with the Sunrise IDE controller, but is a message from the MSXDOS2 kernel. MSXDOS2 errorcodes 0-63 are defined as a "user error" and can be used in a MSXDOS program to return values to MSXDOS or other programs. See http://map.tni.nl/resources/dos2_environment.php for more details (chapter 2.2 and 6) |

Ah of course, so it is an error code reserved for use by the user, not an error attributed to the user. Am I right when I guess that MSXDOS2 was written by Japanese coders?

I am not sure who has written MSXDOS2, no clues in the MSXDOS2 kernel about that. MSXDOS1 was written by T. Paterson and J. Suzuki. The last person is a Japanese, I suppose |
