Buenos Dias !
After a long strugle I got to the point where SEE doesnt use all 3 channels anymore.
Now my soundeffects are being played through PSG channel 3 only.
To make things easier I am not using the noise channel for the drums (SCC-blaffer) nor for the SFX (SEE).
So SCC-blaffer uses only PSG channel 1 and 2 for drums.
And SEE uses only PSG channel 3 for soundeffects.
However when a soundeffect is played there is a hum/hiss hearable in the background.
The drums (psg channel 1 and 2) keep on playing unaffected, but the soundeffect is being played 2gether with a hum/his.
When I mute PSG channel 1 and 2 in SEE, then still the hum/his is being played together with the soundeffect.
And ONLY when I dont play the drums at all (I dont call the SCC-Blaffer routine) then the soundeffect is played without hum/his.
does anyone have a clue where to look for the solution to this ploblem ?
kind regards !!! (ps, MIRC question: is there next to the rizon server another server for msx-channels?)

(not intending to put any other MSX channels down), I think both #msx and #msxdev on Rizon are the places to be for development related discussions though |

yes I muted them (in SEE) completely, since Im not using them at all. Still there seems to be noise coming from SCC-Blaffer.... |

Then check SCC blaffer to see if they mask noise bits for none used channels!

i looked a bit and it seems the problem was scc-blaffer.
i changed somethings, and now it seems the buzzing is gone.
Now I added noise to the psg channels 1 and 2 (of the drums)
The sfx doesnt use noise at all (channel 3)
However, when a soundeffect is played the noise frequency is changed (thats strange), which is hearable in the noise of the drums (the drums, hi-hat and snare) start sounding either to high or to low....
Im almost there !!! |

If I remember correctly the SEE replayer came with sources. Why not edit those a little so you can be sure there's no conflict between the SEE replayer and SCC blaffer? |

yes I did. Because SEE normally uses all 3 psg channels. So what I did was change SEE source so that I uses ONLY channel 3 !!!
After that I had to change a bit in SCC-Blaffer so that it doesnt use channel 3 when a SFX is played.
If SEE doesnt play a soundeffect, then SCC-Blaffer will use channel 3 also (as an extra for the drums)..... |
