I'll add Scramble Spirits to the Generation MSX database.
However, I still fail to see why a .cas loader would be interesting for SymbOS. I think it's just interesting for MSX in general, not something typically SymbOS. It won't use any features of SymbOS...

Added.
If you see something that should be changed or improved, just let us know. |

Thanks for adding it to Generation MSX.
Well, symcommander is for me the greatest file manager I've seen for MSX, so why not include .cas .rom , etc loaders? In cpc there is a ROM loader for Symbos.

File type association is not a special SymCommander feature. You could also start *.XYZ files in SymShell or in the run dialogue But you are right, it's quite comfortable, just to browse through the harddisc in SymCommander and click a video/graphic/music/snapshot etc file...
Two hard weeks passed (regarding private and commercial things), and now I hope, I can concentrate much more on SymbOS again. I already feel a little bit bad about this delay |

Perhaps SymbOS MSX could return to DOS at the cost of some extra memory? (prolly less than 16kB to save a snapshot of the lower and higher memory areas) That should also make it possible to launch MSX-DOS programs using SymbOS, or to 'exit gracefully' from the OS.

Don't worry Prodatron Also Trembint is working hard with SymStudio |

After being shocked that this thread hasn't been bumped I started to read some of the other dev threads. I didn't really know anything about this One Chip MSX project, and despite being very sceptical that such a project could ever become a commercially produced system I wondered if symbos wouldn't be a cool primary OS for the OCM? Yes I know currently OCM is MSX1.
Currently symbos already fronts T_Rex and C-One which are FPGA projects, so why not have a nice new modern OS fronting OCM? |

If any OCM will never released, why not ?
the sole problem is "If"...

I wonder, if anyone thought about using an alternative board, which already exists?
The TREX was not produced for the CPC, but everyone can buy it and install the core. I am sure, there are also boards with the bigger FPGA version, so that the MSX(2) core would fit.
TobiFlex uses SymbOS on the CPC TREX for loading and replacing the ROMs and DSK images from CF card into the SRam. Of course the same could be done for a MSX core.
Btw, I found the bug and will try to release a new preview today in the night or tomorrow |

1- Yes, I think Symbos as a modern OS for our actual MSX but also, for I think future MSX
2- Humm... new preview... |

The msx2 part is close to be finished. Manuel Pazos (friend of japanesse developer) show it in BCN fair of last year. That's a pity is never will be released. VHDL sources are avaible to download in thw web. I can't remember now the url, but if you want I can search for you.

It seems fairly accepted that OCM will almost certainly never appear as purely commercial venture. Why then don't the community look at something like the TRex. It could provide a new standard level which offers modern needs like word processing, web browsing and email, while also providing a backwards capability for old msx games and other software.

IIRC the actual MSX VHDL code is bigger than the TREX FPGA capacity by far. The OCM builds a 12000 LE FPGA.
