@Sonic-weirdo:

As you can see, it all wasn't as easy as you thought. Next time, maybe next time ust help out the easy way. If you were searching for something, you also woulnd't be too happy if people only gave you "hints" instead of normal directions. And also don't presume other people have the same knowledge as you...

Cheers!

@Wanker:

I don't see you helping him?!? Why the heck do I have to give people URLs? Am I the universal URL database now? He can blimmin well type the words in a search engine, just as I would have to do to figure out what the URL is. I didn't give him a hint, I told him exactly where to look. Read the first message; MSX files section of the Yahoo group for SymbOS. I can't help the fact that there are still yahoos out there who don't know yahoo. The fact that the group is invite only doesn't change anything. Even if I did give him the URL he'd still need to join. Not being able to find the EVA player tops it off, it's the very first result google comes up with. Anyhow, next time anyone is looking for anything, I expect you to look it up for them and post the URL.

@TFH: Well, you shouldn't blame Toby, he really helps so much regarding the MSX all the time, just look at his number of posts. Sometimes I am also too lazy to use some search engines. I ask questions and 5 minutes later I already have the answer, as I was to stupid to search for it 10 minutes before. In any case the MSX community is the best and most helpful one I ever got to know. So just come down and have peace! It is my fault, that the SymbOS group is a closed one, and so its files can't be find so easy.

Nahh.. forget it.. It's not wort it

I guess I am just too stupid, that if I know certain information, I just give it. Shouldn't do that anymore

Well, like I said, I don't know these URL's by memory. I also have to look them up. I just assumed that saying the EVA files were in the MSX section of the Yahoo group for SymbOS was clear enough for anyone to figure out. The odd thing tho, was that instead of giving him those URLs you asked me to give him the URLs, quite contrary to your beliefs it would appear! Anyhow, let's get back to the point and ask norakomi if he liked EVA or not...

And the version you'll find using www.google.com is v0.08. It's outdated. Latest release (I know of) is v0.10.

No, last version is 1.0 that is delivered as source in the same package where you can find v0.10 binary :-)

Oh, and another thing
When I try to convert an AVI file to EVA I type:

AVI2EVA STAFF.AVI STAFF.EVA
or
AVI2EVA <filename>.AVI <filename>.EVA -HSIZE128 -VSIZE106 -FPS12 -DITHER

but I get this error:

Cannot get video format
Cannot open 'STAFF.AVI'

I get this error message:

I got the same message every FIRST time I entered the command, and then I only tried again and it worked. Anyway, try to install a different codec pack.

I've also had this with AVI's I did have the proper codecs for. It seems to do this occasionally. I 'solved' this with one vid by pulling it through flaskMPEG, seemed to do the trick. Perhaps some tool that checks AVI headers (and if needed fixes) may work too.

Yes, the sources and the binary are there for several years now, thanks to Saeba and Sergio.
