In fact, Polka! is a great tool for me too, it helped me a lot in the development of Saimazoom (LOTS of tile design for that one). Anyway, I'm waiting for a more complete program with more features (*cough* Polka v2 *cough*) |

| You have really only 1 color per line, instead of 2...

You are right in this point: I get a new restriction (2 colors per 2 bytes instead of 2 colors per byte), but I get a smooth horizontal scroll in return... it is all about a balance of what you lose and what you get...
|
So you really created a pixel scroll? Nice!!!! For 4 pixel scrolls you can still use 2 colours a row... Just make sure the 4 pixels that bound to the background have the same colour, the 4 pixels that bound to a neighbouring tile may use 2 colours.
As for the colour glitches, I plan to have the screen scroll at least 2x4pixels per scroll command. So basically the uneven (glitched) screen would be visible for such a short time the human eye probably can't focus on it...

This game does seem very promissing. I really hope it is able to provide smooth horizontal scrolling of colorful backgrounds, I've been wanting to see that in the MSX for a while.

There is GROG'S revenge that do 1 pixels scroll and colorfull background on msx1. Check the forbidden site... |
