would you buy it manuel? The email notification service is well worth the money. I can give you a $5 discount since you'd be the first customer $$$

Hey NYYRIKKI!: I'm just talking about "Griel's Quest"!. I don't know if the other game's authors will give permission to you for the compilation, but I'm pretty sure they'll do, as other game authors has agreed with other websites to host their games. Just pointing Karoshi filosophy about our games' distribution, but I wasn't talking about others...

I still think your compilation can be distributed with no trouble!: what about asking the authors? .

I know, I'm just really busy at the moment and as I'm homeless at the moment, my PC and MSX are both in warehouse. I think that I'll put this back online when I've removed the "Griel's Quest".

I know that I would have been a nice thing to ask permission from all the authors. The problem was, that I got this idea about 1.5 weeks before the party and at that point I was not even sure, what games I can get to work from disk. The disk was ready about 2 days before party, so there was no time to start contacting authors anymore. (Note, that I was building the party place at the same time) The list of authors was also quite a big.

I was pretty sure, that people are just happy, when their games are made available to not so active MSX users as well, that would propably not see these games otherways. Well... Now I can say, that I made two mistakes... 1.These "not so active MSX users" were not interested about this disk (Damn, even active users do not seem to like game collections) and 2. All game developers do not want to see their games spread.

I really would've expected NYYRIKKI to know better... :/ The music replayer in the menu has a bug which can short-circuit the MSX... You might want to read the MSXdev'05 results page again where the problem was made clear.

Sorry about that... I just took ready PT3 replayer and did not check that out.

In the case of the game disk I think the original games is modified to run from disk, so then its probably not allowed. But in the spirit of the free MSX community I don't see any moral issues with the disk.

I tried to awoid making any changes to original game files, but pure BASIC ROMs (no signs of trying to make protection or similar) were converted back to BAS files in order to save space. Only exeption to this was a little change to Mansion, that was hard coded to work only on MSX slot 1. I had to correct it so that it works from all slots. I considered this as bug and not protection.

I also included readme files to disk although they are not available trough menu.

I think the developers should be more worried about MSX-ers that are not interested in their games, than about the distribution.
Perhaps they are making the wrong kinda games?

To be quite honest; I dont'play these games either. I have the personal problem that they are too difficult for me, or the gameplay (controls) is frustrating me. (sorry)

NYYRIKKI: Perhaps you want to check this forumpost to fix your actual PT3 replayer for the menu

On the other hand, I think NYYRIKKI's disk is definately in the spirit of a good party. Cracking a bunch of copyrighted games and put them all on one single disk in a nice format. After all, we all use illegal copies of games and demos and its a big part of the MSX scene.

You are totally right. Games must be spread everywhere, everytime to everybody. Specially the free community games. This is not business.

I want to point this out once again:

I don't feel that I've cracked anything as I understand that cracking means changeing the code in order to add/remove some features like copy protection. These games did not have any copy protections and I also did not add cheats or anything like that...

I also have not intentionally violated any copyrights. These games have been always freely available without money involved. There was one error that I made on distribution rights, but I took the disk offline and fixed it. If someone can still see a copyright violation please contact me so that I can fix the issue. For me it is enough even if you just feel that your game should not be in this disk. Don't worry I can remove it.

I really don't want to cause harm to anyone.

The stuff with the PSG is fixed, NYYRIKKI? I've just downloaded it and I'm gonna test it in my real MSX (it is nice that I use my job laptop where I won't install an MSX emu so I'm forced to use real HW!).

viejo / NYYRIKKI: why not combine forces and make the disk available on the MSXdev website? (And while you're at it, create a similar disk for the MSXdev'07 games )
I'd much rather download 1 disk image with all 12 entries than go through the hassle of downloading 12 miniscule rom images... (yes, I'm a lazy bastard, I know )

No, I'm not gonna make same mistake twice. Intrest towards this kind of disk was really minimal, checking that everything works was also quite a big job and I should have also contacted all the authors / read all the licenses really carefully. I can't really recommend this kind of task to anyone.
