After "MSX1 Games with smoot scroll", i ask you if anyone know a game that has the following charateristics.

Sc5

A smooth non-hardware scroll? That'll be a short list.

I'm pretty sure that if it scrolls smooth, that it's either an R#18 or an R#23 scroll. I don't think I've ever seen a game with a smooth non-hardware scroll.

That's prolly cause it's not even possible to make a smooth scroll on SC5 without the use of VDP23/VDP18. At a little over 1kB/int for LMMM you're talking like 44x44 pixels! ^_^

Well, you never know whether someone has made a game with a really small playfield

Yes, chucatai uses this techique, it also moves a 'big' sw sprite on the screen during the scroll...

I'm only trying to see if there are some other games that do alike

The use of R#18 and R#23 is pure MSX2, so IMHO the question is incorrect, so games like Space Manbow, Pennant Race 1, Pennant Race 2, Aleste, Aleste 2, Aleste Gaiden, Hydefos, Nosh and Frantic are correct answers.

the only smooth scroll I know without using R#18 or R#23 is in the end demo of SD-Snatcher. Of course you can count the text scrollers from Pumpkin Adventure 3 and The Lost World as well since they use an optimized version of the SD-Snatcher one... Also the Bombaman demos have a smooth scroller.

I Agree!

the problem is that sometimes with terms like "MSX2" often is also referred the "MSX2+".
In my first post, i wrote :

No hw scroll used only pure msx2
=======================================

For no HW scroll i mean no specific HW Scroll features only available in msx2+. The use of r18 is OK!

So the question would be:

Sc5
Smooth Scroll (Horizontal or multidirectional)
!= Total Parody...

No hw scroll msx2+ like only pure msx2 features.

sniff ! there is also chucatai. Smooth scroll more scattered (2px at time), but in exchange it moves a bug sw sprite during scroll on the screen...

Anyone had better?

I like chucataisen !!
used to be in my favorite list.
Is that screen 5?
looks more like screen 6,7,8 or so ?
But when I play the game now its very boring,
the scroll is incredibly slow.
However the use of hardware sprites is great.
Huge monsters !!!

All monsters are hw sprites; the huge and slow is a sw sprite. the screen used is sc5.
Probably the scroll is slow because they work at entire screen; they allow a sw sprite (big); they use only 8 pixels in scrolling so they have to move the entire screen in half the time artrag or you do.

However this should was a good start to H scrolling in sc5-.
