Quoting Wolf_ from the
Most essential MSX event (1982-2005) megapoll [nominations] thread

Nom: The rise of structural FUD in the revival years
Why: in terms of scenedynamics, the last few years have been quite turbulent, with ppl getting annoying, ppl causing stirs, ppl slamming initiatives, ppl suggesting unfounded assumptions, ppl sticking their nose in eachother's business, etc..

Hasn't the MSX scene always had its share of "turbulence"? I remember the fuck-the-FAC era, the bashing of people selling Public Domain in scrolls, the not always meant-as-funny humiliating of other demo groups in demos, or blaming people for being ripoffs/ripping gfx and music. I remember the SD-Snatcher parody on one of the Genic Picturedisks (targeted against the person who ran away with the turboR money), I remember MSX Mozaïk versus MCM, the whole Compjoetania TNG - Takamichi - GuyveR800 situation around Kumeko & Yumeko, Marat Fayzullin bashing, anti-greetings in scene demos, HSH versus... well... I think you get my point by now... "turbulence" is a thing of all times, of all scenes I suppose... and one we would all gladly go without. It's a lot easier said than done, though.

... or Future Disk (sorry guys) announcing their departure and prematurely quitting all activities. It did result in Bombaman, though.

I never took it too serious. Never saw any violence at the fairs.

I personaly did dislike some people from the scene but never was tempted to express it publically. Luckily I never did because some of them I learned to appreciate years later............

As for the flaming/bashing on MRC: it's very very childish. Close to be funny actually.

How do you mean that?

I think there's more obvious bashing now because everyone has internet and can join in =P

anyway, founded critisism is ok IMO, bashing is not.

I only once followed a bit of a heated discussion at one fair, which sounded ridiculously stupid because it seemed so unimportant. I won't go into details (and can hardly remember them anyway).

Really, though, we all just like a ~25 year-old computer. What's there to fight about?

Look at it on the bright side, at least the scene is still big enough to *have* turbulence.

Turbulence in the early scene years (anti-greets, anti-C64 stuff etc.) was more a rule than an exception, and it's not unique for MSX either. Also, in many cases ppl wouldn't even know the attacked person in private, it was just 'cool to do'.
Additionally, it's 10..15 years ago.. ppl were young..

Turbulence of the last years was of a different order, more fundamental, more of a 'movement'. Therefor I think it's to be called one of the important events in the MSX history.

Snout (the character!) saying "Fuck Amiga" was also fun

....but to be fair, the Amiga hardware-wise kicked the ass of any MSX, of course.

wasn't most if it related to the MSX Revival? Again, I think there's nothing wrong with some critisism, as long as it doesn't turn into bashing... same as when doubts turn into (wrong) assumptions.

It would be great if some ppl would learn to read, a lot of misunderstanding, last few years, is based on not having read something. (as in: first vent your own opinion, then read what it was actually all about (and in most cases, ppl would remain silent after that, to hide the fact that they were wrong))

I hardly remember this one. Was it when Takamichi intended to make seppuku ?
