definitely! I think the biggest mistake made with the moonsound was that mbwave and mbfm were two different programs! And ofcourse that mbfm did not get updated anymore

Get your own Realfun Probeerversie here: home.wxs.nl/~realfun

Don't be surprised if something doesn't work.

These things will change:

-All voices (the used voices are still copyrighted, I guess )

-Settingscan (not present in the probeerversie)

-Voice selection/editing

-Probably 'only' 16 channels instead of 32

-Probably 'only' 32 'combined' voices instead of 32 4op fm, 32 2op fm and 32 wave instruments

-Nicer gfx (more predefined color themes)

-A special 'in-game' replayer format (I need one for 'The Lost World' anyway)

-More effects

Suggestions are welcome. Either here or there: realfun@wxs.nl

For a starter....I like the concept of choosing Fac Soundtracker as bases for you program. Horizontal is cool.....No pages/pattern system....Back to real MSX tracking....No some MOD editor converted to MSX

hehehehe......Even blocking is same as Soundtracker.....CTRL+W etc

And with all the Meridian OPL4 power coming in, I think RealFun should focus on integrating in other software indeed. Games, demos etc. etc. It needs a good replayer and small datafiles....

Sjoerd, I'm playing with Realfun now, and it gives me real fun!

There is this one very annoying thing though. It seems like the program doesn't 'close' one of the channels when the music is stopped. So I constantly hear this high annoying note coming out the OPL4 cartridge. Can you recognize this bug? And even better, can you do something about it?!?

Uhm, I have heard of this before, but on my msx and moonsound this does not happen. Do you also hear this sound when the music is playing (for the first time)?

No, the first song that is being played is without the high sound. Then, if you stop the song and you try another song, you constantly hear this high sound. And I believe it even continues if you stop this second song

IT also starts and stops when entering/leaving voice editors/menus.

So the annoying sound does stop? When entering the voice menu's I sometimes hear nothing at all until I leave the menu and re-enter it. Guess my MoonsoundInit and Silence routines are not 100% bug free, hehe.
Maybe the high sound only sounds with TurboRRRs. I have changed my Silence routine. Does anyone know a way to reset the opl4?

Anyway, is there somebody out there with more than 128KB Sample ram? How much Sample RAM does Realfun find in such cases?

I've got 1 MB in my Moonsound and IIRC it detects just 128 kB.

I have started coding 'Realfun2' (this is just a codename, ofcourse. The release version will be called 'Realfun' ).
Main features:
- 16 channels, 256 tracks, 384 positions.
- 256 voices per voicebank, of which 32 voices can be used in a song.
- All voices have to be from the same voicebank.
- New characterset (ok, I've just added an inverse set )
- New default colorscheme.
- Waves.
Other improvements:
- No more [q] and [w] to define a block. (No, the new combinations are not [ctrl]-[b] and [ctrl]-[e] )
- No combinations, or programs or whatever they're called. Only 'single' voices.
- It won't be possible to load 'Realfun probeerversie' or Moonblaster songs.

The original 'one voicebank per song' idea I had in mind for Realfun will be implemented. For everyone who actually tried the 'probeerversie': Noticed the FM voicebanks per song? Heheh, In case you didn't like the idea: things just got worse.

And I will even implement a vertical orientated track editor.
I may add some midi functionality like FAC Soundtracker Pro...

Thought it would be nice to let you all know not to expect anything anytime soon

Nice for keeping us posted. You might consider getting a stand at Tilburg to demonstrate your most recent version of RealFun2

I updated the Realfun website. I am very proud of it, I think Frontpage rocks!!! Take a look at home.wxs.nl/~realfun.
