A short summary in English would be nice, Google doesn't do everything. |

That first screenshot is a "fake" screenshot the guy made in Polka, to see how the game would look on a MSX.
Someone also posted about an MSX2 version being worked on, but stopped due to lack of time.
That's basicly it |

@SlotMan: SEPPASEPPA is PingPong so the last poster is me.
Actually my problems as said is the lack of time, because a lot of time (for me) is needed in drawing sprites and background.
This is the main reason that actually freeze me...
I've posted in the karoshi forum because i've hoped to recycle some grpx... |

As you say in your Karoshi's post, being a SC5 16 color remake, why not recycle the original tiles and sprites?, sure it would be possible to achieve a faithful conversion from the original arcade palette.
About the scroll, do you have a 60fps horizontal only scroll (as seen in level 1) or is it multidirectional too (like the one in level 2)?

Where is the picture? I can only the one that's an actual screenshot of the arcade version, and that's not fun at all.
Is the MSX one one of those attached files I can't see because I'm not registered? I don't want to register just to see a picture, could anyone post it here, please?

Maybe this helps, get the Meka emulator and run the SMS version of GnG... it shows all level tiles at once (as in the picture, showing level 1 tiles) and resolution is same as MSX
In a couple of minutes, I could make a 16 color pal for this stage, see:

Perhaps this is a solution for the time striken developers in this day and age: remakes. Basically the game concept's there. As Slotman pointed out, even the graphics can be remade relatively easy. Storyline is there as well and best of all: you can always make enhancements to those games on points in which they are lacking. Hope somebody picks this project up again.

@Slot: your emulator allow the saving of all tiles/sprites in a file? by knowing ( or "guessing" ) the format i can try to write a tool for converting tiles to gng remake, then i can modify the converted tiles a little to get the final results.
Actually the sprites are the big limiting factor as i'm a very stupid and lazy people in sprite design and the main charater could have a lot of frames
for example:
walking right, frame 1
walking right, frame 2
walking right, frame 3
walking left, frame 1
walking left, frame 2
walking left, frame 3
jumping right
jumping left
fighting left
fighting right
this is multiplied by 2 because sir Artur can or not have the armor.
Also the zombies have at least
two frames per direction (left/right)
not to cound final enemies...
All of these sprites should be made taking account of the 3 color mode...
really to much hard to draw all these sprites for me.

Well, if ARTRAG & me could collaborate in the future and some one help for the patterns maybe the msx2 port would be possible. What do you think ARTRAG?

It doesn't work for me. The image does not show in the browser, and when I copy the URL of the image I am asked to "Ingresar" in the forums. That only works for people who have accounts there. Thanks though.
Now, an MSX2 port seems too easy. I was thinking about porting this to MSX1 myself. In fact, I wanted to do Ghouls 'n Ghosts. I also have some concept art (mostly sprites) around here. I'll see if I can put something together. |
