In the old days PC could be restarted by pressing Ctrl-Alt-Del keys, this caused a warm-boot.
Because of the common roots ( sw wise ), i think should be a similar sequence for the msx. Anyone know about it?

On some (all?) models you can force a "return to BASIC" pressing GRAPH-CONTROL-SHIFT-CODE, I'm not sure about the exact keys; but IIRC they were all modifier keys...

Most MSX machines were built into keyboard, so pressing reset was easier than on any standard PC where kb and system box are separated. I think this is the good reason for not having such a combination. Especially if we are talking about first machines in MSX standard.

The "three finger salute" was introduced in the PC because of the lack of reset button, the off switch was in the back.... and the frequency of hangs. Nothing related with the common roots of the software in both types of machines.

some msx machines does not have a hw reset button, only a pretty unreachable on/off button.

Nitpicking: that's a sequence, rather than a combination |

Gradiente put CTRL+SHIFT+STOP on their brazilian MSXs, since they didnt have reset buttons... and because of that I tried many times to reset my turbo-R this way (yeah, I know it has a reset button, but I was used to CTRL+SHIFT+STOP for many years! hehehehe)
Of course, when the computer was completly frozen, this key-combo wouldnt work, and then you could only turn it off and on again, or just push the little "cartridge front panels" (as if you would insert some cartridge there) so the MSX would reset
Very weird |
