Thanks to OmegaMSX I ended up with some DVD's with Amiga demos on them. Just put them in your DVD player and you can watch 2 hours of Amiga nostalgia on your normal TV.
I was thinking of doing something similar for MSX (If I can find the time somewhere ) and then just post the DVD's on usenet or whatever for everyone to download. Without committing myself to it, would you be interested in such a DVD (don't worry, it won't cost you a penny) and if so, which demo's would you like to see on it?
Regards,
TFH |

What to see on it? Hmm, atleast bandwagon, the swiss demo, Altparty '98, FAC, Unleashed, NOP demos such as Unknown Reality and the demo contests results such as Bounce!.

I think it would be a short list.. a lot of MSX demos are scroll 'n logo things, hardly interesting from a modern retro point of view.

@Wolf:
I gues you are right, but then again, the music can be fun as well. And thanks to the menu, you just play the demos you want to. And there is even another option: Don't download it ;-) |

I can help record some videos too, just let me know what you want to see. Here are some things I learned to get better looking videos in blueMSX:
First, I suggest changing the framerate of the recorded video, which is the following line in blueMSX.ini:
Quote:
| video.captureFps=30
|
Some videos like unleashed has to be recorded with mixing consecutive frames or at 60Hz to look good because they update important stuff every frame. Another thing is that blueMSX has the advantage to actually interpolate the MSX video out to the framerate of the video which gives a quite nice and smooth result. I can't remember if its default or if you have to set sync mode to Asynchronous. I'm not sure what codec gives the best result. Perhaps someone else know.
Another option is of course to play the demos on a real MSX and use a good capture card.

The idea is to use OpenMSX/BlueMSX to "capture" the video, so that we get a clean source. The Amiga DVD's have been captured from an actual Amiga 500 with Kickstart 1.3, but to get a real good CLEAN image quality, you need a very good capture card. And besides that, I am too lazy for that (and I actually don't have enough MSX equipment to accomplish that) ;-)

If you use an emulator, can you do horizontal stretch so you get the same aspect ratio as a real msx? I think that looks a lot better, like a real MSX.
