I remember playing this game as a kid, and now ive been enjoying it again.
Great game.
I dont know if i knew more at the time, but my question is.
How to utilize the weapon 'grand slam' ??
it doesnt seem to work.

You fire Grand Slam the same way you would make a tank or a soldier. However, grand slam flies slowly OVER the battlefield and can't be seen because you are ON the battlefield. So, grandslam can't be stopped by the enemy. But when your enemy fires a grandslam, you can't stop it either. So, first thing you do when starting a level is firing grandslam. See it as a timelimit.

Grandslams can be stopped actually.
It's possible that 2 grandslams (one of the enemy and one from you) hit each other which result into a shaking screen and the 2 grandslams being destroyed.

thats why sometimes after a long fight I (all of a sudden) win the game.
I thought that I won because the time limit ended and I had a stronger position in play.

The Grand Slam actually doesn't fly, it digs it's way undergorund. And yes the only way to destroy a grand slam is to hit it with a grand slam.

(TIP: launch multiple grand slams at once)

You can see the grandslam positions on the map on top of the screen.

BTW here is tip, how to finnish the game quite easyly. Usually the problem is, that when you end up to other side of the river, you run out of money and end up to "one step back, one step forward, one step back, one step forward"-loop. To avoid this:
- start the game normally
- go to buy menu.
- place beer can on top of left or right key
- turn autofire on from joystick
- go to sleep

The computer will be kept busy with your soldiers and you don't have to worry about winning or losing. When you come back you can see, that you have so much money that it is not problem at all to finnish the game. This is not even real cheating

Or you use the keycombi to get instant 65535gold. (or you use the cheats with bluemsx or openmsx)
