Who recognizes the following problems using BASIC.BIN:

* Playing a song which uses 9 fm-pac channels will screw up the drum settings for every next song using 6 channels plus fm-pac drums; in particular for the hi-hat/cymbal sounds.

* Some channels in songs using 9 fm-pac channels will produce noise. And I don't mean a bit of crackling, but a good deal of some nasty hardcore "KSHSHSHSHSH"-ing. Seems to occur especially with the "violin" instrument at higher tones.

Sometimes -but not in most cases- this problems are solved by stating a call mbchip command.
A (soft) reset always helps, but that's ofcourse not one of the most classy solutions.

It happens on every PC that I used for emulation.

Is this an emulator (NLMSX) glitch, or should I use a different (newer) tsr?

Dude, you makin' a replayer for something? Nice

In them days, I recall having some problems with BASIC.BIN. At least, I recognize the _MBCHIP issue which sometimes worked. I guess the driver doesn't reset all channels/default mode upon loading a new song. Maybe some ASM hacker around here can look into it.

As far as I know, the BASIC.BIN delivered with MB1.4 is the only one, as in, you can't get any better.

Oh, this is why I can't recall your other problems: at the time, I only owned a Toshiba MSX-AUDIO (actually, my father did & still does) I've got an FMPAC ever since I bought my turboR, 5 years ago. I was foolin' around with this stuff in 1995 orso

Damn, was I young back then!

DemonSeed: in any case, if you use an emulator, better also try on some other ones to make sure it's not an emulation glitch. Best thing to do: try it on a real MSX

I'm working on the game again.
The game! Always the game...

The sources of the replay routine are available on the net somewhere. Can't be too hard to insert a few lines of ASM that reset all FM-PAC settings before starting a new song...
