You might remember the playable demo and stuff I posted here a while ago (or not )...

2005 playable demo and 'music mode'

Some pictures of that (click to enlarge, 696 Kb):

Lately I picked it up again. Still want to finish it *someday*. Hehehe.
Working on it bit by bit.

There have been made some drastic changes, not only to the perspective and graphics but also to the gameplay.
It will still be a realtime action game, and due to this, still a BASIC program relying on 4 times the normal z80 speed, like the old one.

Most probably will be added:

* Changes (functional) of day and night. Not palette- but pattern-based

* Semi-3D travel mode with road battles

* Multiple player characters

* Some more music (ofcourse, not probably)

Until the game's main engine is "perfect" enough to present a decent playable demo of SOG new style, here's a sneak preview:

Well, see you soon in 2010 I'd say!
And for now... Goodnight!

Oh well, tomorrow it'll probably be fine again.

The pictures are uncompressed bitmaps of 600+ KByte each. It's wise to convert them to either gif or png to reduce size 50 to 100 fold!
This morning I could only load the first picture before your data limit maxed out again. But this first picture (690 KB in size) converted to a 14KB gif and a 7KB png!!!)
That means 100 times more people could watch your website before you reach your data limit

[edit]
Even the small preview screenshots shown here in this forum thread are 170KB in size each. That's 1MB each time someone views this thread...)

again the site says

maybe you should consider to move to another website (e.g. try google pages)

PS
geocities looks for $, after few accesses they will stop your data almost independently by their size.

I saw your pictures for a short time and they looked very nice! Then your Geocity account became unavailable... So, what's the story and what kind of gameplay can we expect 'this year'?

@Unicorn: If you mean the story of the game...
Shortly, you're a born soldier who has lost his army and land and who would die in sunlight and can absorb life force of living things.

But it's more important if the game itself runs nice.

If you're referring to the "development" story, well, I make it for fun, bit for bit, and code/draw/compose stuff for it when I get the opportunity.
I wellcome help ofcourse!
Especially on programming and graphics.

@ Patsie, ARTRAG and ro, thanks for the advice, guys!
This image shack site seems to clash with this windows 95 computer on every occasion they meet.

For now, here's the pictures in a .zip:

3 pictures of the game, new style

I expect to have the new playable demo finished in 2 or 3 months, which also should mean that the main engine is perfect!

That you suckas might live long enough witness the dawning of this game!
Fool!

(those smileys just force me to do it... Gotta love'em )

By the way, both computers I used did not allow to convert to .jpg...

Else I'd have replaced the files, naturally.

google://convert+bmp2gif

The first hit (here at least ) is some simple converter. Doesn't need any installation, so it could even be run at an internet cafe.

Thanks, both!

Tomorrow I'll convert the pics and repost them.

@ro: You might think of it as a "steampunk"-styled but crappy-programmed Xak II with some extra game-elements like an arcade traveling-mode, in-game puzzles etc...
