I estimate that 99.99% of all ppl use warez versions of WinRAR/WinZIP. As long as they're satisfied, there's no reason for them to pick a free alternative..

I aggree on that, but that 00.01% is the user base that will keep those companies running. But what if that user base wakes up and sees it is provided with either free alternatives integrated in their operating system, or freely downloadable alternatives which are comparable in usage?

To keep it a bit on-topic;

SCC-Musixx doesn't support PSG. There is another tracker (SCC Blaster?), I don't know if that one supports PSG. SME and Musica do support both SCC and PSG afaik.

Adjusting pt3 player to support SCC in combination with PSG is probably a pain for the musician, unless Vortex Tracker itself also support SCC (otherwise it will be more or less numb composing the scc part).

Some ppl love that hideous app called 'Musica', which iirc supports MSX-Music, PSG and SCC..
(I think I'd get a fever from that app!)

What about SME3 from Xelasoft?

Oh yeah, Musica! That was some piece of work allright. Hehehe.

Oracle was quite something too. The demo confused me, but maybe I should have given it a chance.

Sticked with MB 1.4 and MbWave, however.

SME3... Oooooh, I pain my brain, the name rings a bell but maybe I destroyed the brain cells which carried crucial information about that one.

Well, sure it'd be numb, but I reckon the SCC could add a lot of 'depth' or warmth to a song, even if it merely follows the PSG data.

It is possible to play 2 (different or the same) tunes together. But the sound output is still PSG of course.
Maybe Vortex tracker sources are available and we can add SCC chip?
