The last three / four minutes of the video show scrolling tecniques that are simply impressive considering the MSX2 VDP.
Can anyone assure me about this is a MSX2 with a v9938 + z80 3.5mhz?
I'm impressed....

Yes PingPong, this is the Ys 3 game i've played on MSX years ago and sometimes still do.
And yes, i was impressed back then when i've played those last levels on the clock tower.
And what to think of the PSG soundtrack... it's only PSG!!
The whole game is very impressive if i may say so.
Thats why it's one the classic games around, and not only on MSX.

Ys III has very impressive multilayer scrolling indeed. Very cool game! Scrolling is a tad slow, though.

It is a tad slow but still playable... if you compare it to sd-snatcher of metal gear:solid snake!!
But Ys 3 is very impressive... one of the best games for MSX... imho the game was put too much in the shadow of games like sd-snatcher or Metal Gear 2!! Ok, the storyline etc.. is not better dan the konami games but I still like it a lot...
I finished Ys 2 & 3 more often than any other game... On an average of about 1 or 2 years I play those games again... fantastic!!

Maybe appear slow. But considering the multilayer stuffs, and some impressive background animations, i still think is quite fast. |

If you liked the MSX version of Wanderers from Ys, then just give the SNES version a try! Graphics are still better (more colours available), scroll is totally smooth, scalling/zoom hardware is used, as well as hardware background layers and transparency/translucency. FM music and sound effects are simply awesome and playability is about the same as in the MSX2 version. A must for every Ys fan! Strongly recommended. I've got the original USA edition in English and it ruleZ!

thx, pitpan. My considrations are however, tecnhically oriented, SNES is a far superior hw, so the superior implementation on snes does not surprise me as the msx version.

IMHO the SNES-conversion could have been better.
Especially the music re-arrangements.
I think the Sega Genesis-version does a more decent overall job. |

I have to second DemonSeed here - the Sega Genesis version of Ys III more faithfully reflects the MSX2 version of Ys III and just takes advantage of the superior hardware, while the SNES version does not look and sound as nice.
I finished Felghana a few months ago as well. Fantastic remake of Ys III and still one of the best game soundtracks ever.

As can be seen on this link this game is for MSX2 and MSX2+. Maybe this YouTube video was made using a (emulated?) MSX2+??? Still it is a very impressive game I think. |

It seems to me that the YouTube video is the normal MSX2 version. The game just is impressive.
As is, indeed, Oath in Felghana.
