I have a option to buy an unboxed but fully working MSX Turbo R ST for 85 Euro or a complete Japanese One Chip MSX for 105 Euro. Which one would you recommend and why?
I do not have an MSX at the moment and I want the MSX to play the collection of MSX games I have and to finish off developing a game I have been working on and off for the last 3 years.

Yes but that isn't the question. I can only buy one, so one of the other.

holy ****.. a tR for €85 ! that's a giveaway..
Atm, the tR is somewhat more powerful, but the 1CM tends to be somewhat more complete.. tough choice.. |

if you use MSX for program choice the ST because it's the original keyboard of MSX and not the PC keyboard of the OCM
i have not the OCM but with BlueMSX is very hard to find some key on my PC keyboard
with my GT i have not this problem !!
if you play only make your choice

Offtopic:
@Jipe: there's an IPS patch for that, you know? Somewhere in the IPS Patch archive on the internet there's a file which you can use to patch the MSX turboR ST/GT ROMs in order for them to get a European keyboard layout. That is when you're using openMSX though. Dunno jack about blueMSX.

You could also buy the Turbo R, sell it for 200 euro and get the OCM. That way, you get a OCM for free |

Well I bought the Turbo R as it looked cooler, had a nice keyboard and as you say it's quite cheap. But I realise that I don't have any phono cables around so I'll have to wait until tomorrow to test it. It's my first real MSX too.
I also went out and bought a external USB drive and some discs to back up software and to test code I've written. Has anyone done a PDF of the Turbo R manuals?
I might still go out a get the OC MSX as the SD card slot would make life easier... |

You could ofcourse also get a CF card interface from sunrise for your real Turbo-R. It's cheaper than a OCM. |
