Does anyone knows if there is a port of Street Fighter II for the MSX ?
I've seen that a lot of MSX conversions of Spectrum games were available only in Spain for some years, maybe this could be one of those... who knows

A Spectrum version does exists, and it's quite impressive... at least for the standards of a computer created in the early eighties

Yes, there is an MSX2 version of Street Fighter II, but I never actually understood its status. I think it was not finished or something. I don't remember who made it either, but it was not bad, actually. So I can confirm there's an MSX2 version (which was never officially released afaik), but can't tell you much more.

If you are talking about "Street Neo Fighter" ...
Street Neo Fighter II - The World Warrior

Homebrew Fan Games.
There is a lot of MSX-BASIC games that are similar to "Street Fighter II"[except for the Graphics, music and sound] (since the games uses monochromatic blocked sprites) on the MSX-FAN Disk Magazines ...

I was just wondering if US Gold, that released a lot of conversions of the games, has ever released a MSX version; because I still remember that in the early nineties there were some computer magazines -at least here in Italy- that were talking about Spain as -the ultimate land for MSX1 games- since a lot of Spectrum games like Chase HQ, Batman the movie, Lazer Tag and a plethora of titles were converted for MSX and sold only in that country, because the MSX standard "still had a very strong presence there" (This is what I was used to read on the magazines... I honestly don't know if it was true or not back in 1990 and 1991)

Geez... I was jealous

If you wanted only the CGI, there is lots of MAG files with the graphics of Street Fighters and Art of Fighting characters. The Computer Graphics could be used on MSX 2/2+ or other Personal Computers ...

I had some disks filled with draws of popular characters from Animation and Games. There was even drawing contests for the best illustrators and painters ...

I think that Spectrum has Street Fighter II, don't know if it is original ... There seems to be a lot of old games for Commodore or Sinclair computers. If the market analysis is real, the MSX could be so popular as the Commodore 64. Instead of this, actually only half the user base brought the MSX computers. Even with the "CP/M" compatible system ... At least the MSX can be a better (semi-professional) Personal Computer home system!!!

Bitmaps user friend and very good support for MAG (Japanese compressed bitmap) files ... Just copy and past some files from the NET!

Uf!! And we though we were quite forgotten ( talking about msx game releases) General computer magazines in that period didn't treat msx community quite well, announcing the end of the standar during lots of years. Of course, the main games source were Speccy conversions and that give poor image of the standar.

At least there is Zemina´s "STREET MASTER" for MSX-1, which is first Street Fighter!

It has wonderfully looking colourful graphics, both fighters look very good as they are multicoloured and music is really good!!!!!!

Yes!!! But I think playing (on the 1 player mode) would be a bit better. Street Fighter (the first) is for me a real classic. I think it must have a new remake for MSX.

PS: I have the ROM, but there is not a "disk" version.

It's curious how Zemina added Chun Li to the Street Fighter fighter's list (she didn't appear in the original game). Also, you always play with... KEN (in the right) and when you play 2P, first player is always KEN, but second player... can select other fighters It lacks some fighters, and Mike is called Bison (Mike was on SF and M. Bison on SF2. As there were problems outside Japan with Mike Tyson, Capcom changed the names of some fighters on SF2)

But yes, Street Fighter (the first) it's possible on MSX. As I have told before, hope there will be a good remake or conversion on MSX 2.

Yours,
