Since I occasionally check out this website I might just as well introduce myself.

This nickname dates back to the time I bought my first MSX.
It was an MSX2 nms 8220 with cassette's!
Fortunately I also bought one cartridge which was Metal Gear.
I played this game a lot (never could finish it though) with my friends and they called me Metal Geart for it.
The latter part (Geart) is the Frisian pronunciation for my real name, which makes it suitable for me.
So I guess the Dutch MSXers now know which part of the Netherlands I am from! :-)

Later I bought a MSX2 VG 8235 with diskdrive, 265 Kb and 7 Mhz switch. Great!
I still have it and occiasionally use it.

Also back then I had some MSXing friends and we visited the fairs in Zandvoort and Tilburg.
Those were really great and big fairs.
I must say that my interests were (and still are) mainly in gaming, since I can't program.
I have made some music with Moonblaster, but nothing fancy I'm afraid.
I shifted my musical "talents" towards playing guitar in a band, which seems to work better for me :-)

I was surprised to find this active MSX resource center. It's fun to learn what is still going on and also sometimes I find some usefull tips for games that I have never finished. I will probably (no, certainly) bug you with some gaming questions every now and again, since a lot of games still need to be finished and there isn't a lot of time available (holidays are my MSXing days if any...).

Very close...I lived in Wijnjewoude then.
I did know someone in Ureterp who was into MSX then.
I bought my first MSX from him (see top message) and a couple of cartridges.
Did you live near or in Ureterp then?
Why did you think you know me?

It is a long time ago but I met a couple of MSX freaks back in 1993 and one had a very rare name something like popke and he came from Ureterp.. I thought you were one of them too... (one of them sounds like a SF movie )

Correct.
Popke was the guy I bought my first MSX from!
Probably we were indeed the "freaks from '93" youre talking about.
I just saw your profile and actually remeber you.
Real tall...I even buyed a small TV from you for my MSX!
Let's see, we were with a couple of guys then, Piet Marcus, Jan, Jan Martin en myself (Geert) all from Wijnjewoude.
I remember that we travelled to Zandvoort or Tilburg with you guys (from Beetsterzwaag) at least once from Heerenveen.
It's fun reading that you are still (at least somewhat) "connected to MSX".
Myself, I'm not really active, just playing an occasional game with BlueMSX or the real thing, but it's mostly restricted to the holidays I'm afraid.
I'm actually trying to finish PA-III but am having a hard time with it (see my other messages), so if you can help....?
Anyway, greetings!

So I was right!?! Hello Geert, long time no see, how are you doing

Yes, my connection to MSX is the same as you... every day I check the MRC site, occasionally playing a MSX game or listen to MSX music...

Well, have fun on msx.org!!

Yep, you were right and it has been quite a while indeed.
I'm doing fine and intend to have fun here, thanks.
I hope you are fine also!

I guess Meits must be really tall...
