I've checked ebay, but I'm not sure on how to pay with pounds if I live in America. I probably won't be able to travel too far, and I'm looking to spend 20-70 US dollars.

Seeing as you're talking about Pounds, I'm assuming you've only checked ebay.co.uk. The European country in which MSX was the most popular was The Netherlands though, so also check out ebay.nl (even though the language there is Dutch, some items have English descriptions as well). If you have a specific model in mind, why not use ebay's search function and search through ebay world-wide?

I don't think 20 US dollars will get you much, since that's what you're probably going to have to pay just for shipping (can somebody confirm this?). Also, I think in _general_ it's safe to say MSX-2 machines are heavier than MSX-1 machines.

Oh, and if you're not buying a Japanese MSX you'll also be needing a voltage converter (220V->110V. That is, if I correctly remember that in America the norm is 110V, not 220V?).

Hello, rogles. Have you found your MSX to buy? I want to help you. You can buy a Philips MSX2 computer by 40 euro price, at the following web site:

http://www.bas-ditta.info/verkoopenlinks/hardware%20engels.htm

I've bought to this Netherlands seller and MSX repairer without any problem. You can contact him in english.

Like Kanima said you must check computer's power supply requirements. You will probabily need a stepdown convertor. By other way, you can also pay using u.s. dollar if PAYPAL is included in auction's payment ways. Then, Paypal makes change between dollar and pounds or between dollar and any other one.

I hope I will help you.

I've checked ebay.co.uk and ebay.nl, and I'm just looking around more.

Edit- I think I may have found one.

No, you'll only suffer the common issues with the voltage (220v <-> 110v) and color system (NTSC <-> PAL). If you buy an european machine you'll get a 220v/PAL machine.
In the States, common compatible machines are: a japanese TurboR machine (too expensive) and a MSX2+ machine (affordable; but ony 64K if it's not upgraded); so, think about that and maybe you'll find an european 128/256KB MSX2 machine a better choice.

Here's a 8235 modified with a 720kb drive.

Or even better this 8250 with an extra switchable 6 Mhz circuit (note that it has a little burst on the front panel but who cares )
