We're filling up a soon-to-be-unleashed downloads database. In this database we will only host freeware or ex-commercial software (only with the permission of the original developers).

If you have a game, demo, music file, utility, patch, development tool, graphics, a related tool for PC or anything else you'd like to contribute to this database, please send it to bifi@msx.org (he's in control of the downloads )

Just in case you didn't know, a while ago Gremlin (Auf Wiedersehen Monty, Acenger, etc) made their old software freeware.

There are a few other companies that did that too... Check out: http://www.emulation.ch/L8R

You can see Gremlin in that list too, a very long time ago already.
I remember Collin van Ginkel (Fony back then, Two Tribes now) telling me they got permission from Gremlin to release MSX2 versions of Gremlin's games, this was waaaay back in the 90's.

...we would not want to cause you or other people datatraffic trouble. That's why we arranged a place to mirror all files (Funet). Another benefit of this decision is that we will have no trouble with broken links or interesting files lost in cyberspace.

Furthermore we want to offer the downloads in standard formats (lzh for archives with files, DSK for disk images and ZIP for PC tools - cross development and such) and test if the files actually work on a real MSX (great way to think of a description as well )

Depends whether or not the webmaster is the developer. If a product is freeware, I see no restrictions at all to mirror it elsewhere, if not we'll contact the developer and try and act according to common policies (possibly stated on the website).

(weird sentence... in a hurry.... will get back tomorrow....)

We will not mirror anything that is restricted by any means. So if the "creator" of a piece of software/documentation/whatever, explicitly states that it's not allowed to mirror without permission we will not do so. We will only mirror freeware software and all other products which have been granted permission to be distributed.

Don't panic Hans, we will not mirror MSXHans Info Pages!
