I suggest you to play the following funny game:
try to evaluate well-known MSX games according to Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) rules. All modern games are evaluated by them, so let's try to see how would they evaluate MSX games.
Here is the ESRB rating guide, and here are some examples:
Penguin Adventure:
Cartoon Violence (killing the dragon, the gun)
Alcohol Reference (Beer !)
Simulated Gambling (slot-machine)
Language (the trader says something like "Darn" - I don't remember)
Metal Gear 1/2:
Tobacco Reference
Use of Tobacco
Animated Blood (I think I saw it in some scene)
Intense Violence
Sexual Content (for going to women's bathroom :-) )
Use of Drugs (for sniping... or was it in MGS ?)

Then, what would be the Yab Yum rating?
Or Pink Sox, Starship Rendezvous, etc.
Anyway I guess most MSX games are

I think MSX games need a rating system of their own. ^_^

I expected people to show their deep knowledge of games details in this thread, in more or less humorous way.
Anybody ?
For example, how would you evaluate Athletic Land ? Eggerland ? King's Valley ?

Athletic Land
Cartoon Violence: bouncing ball in the nuts?
Suggestive Themes: Going to a child's park? What's next, going to a public toilet George Michael style?
Mature Humor: fish jumping up at the character's balls?
Violence: Makes me want to dismember someone after misjumping one of those poles for the umteenth time
Eggerland:
Drug Reference: I mean, those cats must be on drugs; just look at their eyes! Or how about Roro himself, shooting eggs out of his eyes?
Fantasy Violence: Medusa shooting lightning at poor Roro!
Nudity: Doesn't Roro show his X'd butt when he dies?
Violence: He has to kill those enemies, doesn't he?
Pacman:
Use of Drugs:

'nuff said? no? then: Pacman Championship Edition comic
Suggestive Themes: he has to 'eat the cherry'?
Cartoon Violence: Ghosts are out to eat him!
Nudity: one of the 'cutscenes' shows a ghost rippings its clothes on a nail!
okay... most of them are farfetched, I know ;p |

Nice topic!
F1-Spirit
Alcohol Reference - driver has a bottle in his hands during end animation
Tobacco Reference - LOTS of references to tobacco, game cover has marlboro advertising car complete with marlboro colours, lots of stages have marlboro advertising....
Cartoon Violence - player´s car (and probably driver (you) too...) is almost unharmed after several sure-death-crashes
Fantasy Violence - player can kill hundreds of innocent audience by crashing against them and still continue driving without any penalty. Ok, there is indeed "penalty", player loses gas when killing people (thought same applies for crashing anything solid)
Sexual Themes - women are showed in bikinis in end animation (male is full dressed, of course...)
Violence - you can kill other drivers (without penalty of course...)
Nice game for children, indeed.... |

I'd rather not try to rate Genesis soft's Sabrina. Indeed, there aren't words to describe my feelings when I bashed several guys with the all-purpose tit-hit!
You can legally play it on-line here and discover this lengendary title about the gifted Sabrina Palermo |

I thought her name was Sabrina Salerno and not Palermo. I don't remember that because I still dream about her getting out of a swimmingpool and that her bikini comes off and then...
No, must be something completely else |

You're right: her surname is Salerno. But anyway she doesn't need a surname |
