Pimp my PSG #6 - Wicked Lounge by Jorito

Just short of a week before the deadline, MRC webmaster Jorito joins in the Pimp my PSG challenge with his entry. He created a lounge version of Vampire Killer's Wicked Child, to enjoy this classic track in a different style.

The last few weeks I joined in a game music competition to remix Castlevania songs. My source track in that compo was always the song "Wicked Child" from Vampire Killer. Since I was running low on time and that song was stuck in my head, I decided to create a remix of Wicked Child for the 6th time. I tried to give it an original spin and turned it into a bossa nova style. Hope you like it!

The track was made for a standard Moonsound, no extras needed. Jorito also placed a Youtube version online for your convenience.

With 6 entries already in place, the Pimp my PSG challenge is wrapping up to its final deadline next Sunday. If you want to participate, you've got 5 more days to do so!

Awesome! Simon Belmont on a cruise with some old people! You managed to kick out all the excitement and tention of the song and replace it with a cheesy Love boat feel. This is meant as a compliment ofcourse. Really great and creative arrangement. Love it!

I was messing around with the track in my mastering software, and if you add a dash of reverb and mastering to the track it doesn't even sound half bad! Pity that the effects chip wasn't included in the Moonsound, because I feel these dry samples in the Moonsound really lack quite a lot of presence and are intended for use with reverb and such.

I'll try to upload that mastered/reverbed version later for your enjoyment.

Okay, It's quite normal that you don't like bossa nova (NOBODY really likes bossa nova actually...) but you must agree with me/us that the transformation this song underwent is great.

In all fairness, it's a bit of a joke entry. I wanted to do something big for the challenge but unfortunately didn't have the time for it. And this concept was just simple and weird enough that I just wanted to find out if it would work

Even for a joke entry it is still fun!

I wonder how this bossa nova version would sound in Moonblaster for Music Module and MSX music.

Yes, you did! For a different reason than in my MB1.4 songs (where the flute is one of the few baked in FM instruments that sounds somewhat decent for leads IMHO) however; in this case it just fits with the style. Most of my non-MSX made tunes don't feature a flute
