You are right, here goes full info:
- Device: Zemmix Neo running DOS2 and Sofarun 8
- Problem: it reaches the credits screen but nothing happens when you push space / fire to start game, it remains in credits screen.
SofaROM seems to misidentify Super Laydock startup address or segment. It doesn't show any part of the intro, just goes directly to the startup menu. I've tried with both MegaRAM, ESE-SCC and Memory Mapper devices in A1WSX and A1GT. Does anyone else have this same problem? I've been told this also happens in real hardware with both MegaRAM and Memory Mapper devices. I tested the ROM and it's the GoodMSX one, works fine both in WebMSX and OpenMSX.
It sounds like the AI patching (which tries to circumvent any copy protection) is causing this. Did you try with different leve settings?
I tried with both default and /A0 settings, with same results. I don't know if this is in any way helpful, but I've heard ExecROM (which uses MegaRAM) works fine with this game (it seems to make use of a patch).
Strange, Super Laydock Mission Striker is just an ASCII8 ROM. Why wouldn't it work with the MegaRAM option in SofaRun? I tried it, but I got a black screen after starting the ROM on my Carnivore 2 (using Carnivore 2 (mega) RAM). No AI patching is used in this case, AFAIK.
Well the black screen may be indicative of the copy protection kicking in. I tried using Carnivore 2 (Flash) and then it runs fine... Actually Carnivore 2 (RAM) also works (at least on openMSX wit emulated C2).
Well, it doesn't work on my turbo R. Copy protection how?

I'm not saying it doesn't work, just that it seems to work but doesn't show the intro screen (with digitised voice) nor the title animation (with the little ships flying). I don't know if it stops working later. About MegaRAM, it's just that this is how it was tested, but results were the same using the Memory Mapper. This was the same both in real machines and in OpenMSX and WebMSX.
I've heard it worked in the C2, though. Maybe you have a different ROM? I used the GoodMSX one.
I've used the same ROM and I just get what i described.... WTF? Using turboR Memory Mapper it runs, but it crashes after beating the first boss. But then the AI is active.
As soon as I have time I'll try beating the first boss too, to see what happens. But I'm not holding my breath.
