I just got to a disk 2 area and using a cloned disk from the normal dsk dump worked fine. Looks like there's only protection on disk 1.
You are correct, there is no protection on DISK B. Please let me know if there any game data on DISK C or is it just for saving... My friend played a bit with it and looks like you can save on DISK A & B too... I was wondering why there is so much free space on them at the end...
And you were right, playing DSK version is way faster, DMK version is great for preservation, but loading times are way to long.
I don't think B and C are used for saving, pretty sure you only save on A. I haven't gotten to anywhere that needs C yet.
It could be lazy porting, other versions of Gize! were on 5" floppy...?
How did you patch it?
I did it as if I was working on a real MSX... And that worked. I love DiskView 2...!
I used HEX editor on Windows. And then ran on OpenMSX. Just to clarify we are talking about patching DMK files?
You can't just patch the file I think. The CRC of the sector would become invalid. So I edited the disk with the emulated MSX using DiskView 2. That has the same effect as redumping the edited real disk.
I'm trying to dump Cosmic Psycho now.
Disks 1 and 2 dumped seemingly successfully
I'll keep ripping in various formats over today and tomorrow and then put them all up at once for data study and protection removal if anyone wants to take a crack at it, pardon the pun.

Would be great if you can post the 1st disk in DSK format, since this is what we need to play with
The rest highly unlikely have protection.
I've been trying to get Disk E to read correctly for the last half hour just about. DMKs take too long for me to be a massive fan of them. After this, I'll dump Disk A as PDI/DSK and go to bed, it's nearly 2 AM.
I'd love to know the truth behind whatever < < A D V H > > M S X V e r s i o n 2 . 0 1 is, it'd be pretty sick if this game uses a whole custom DOS to run.
It's been almost another hour. I tried Disk E one last time and it worked perfectly, so I decided to retry disk A, and it too self-corrected its errors. Here's an archive of the flawless reads, I kept all of the not-as good ones in case anyone wants to check against them. For now, it's 3 AM, so the DSK and PDI rips will have to wait until tomorrow. I've been at this for almost 8 hours.

I converted the Cosmic Psycho DMKs to DSK, they are here.
If anyone is curious, or if it might be of use to people (like max), I wrote a super quick command line tool to convert DMK to DSK (it just strips the track data from the DMK and only outputs the data bytes).

Amazing job! Really nice tool.
Update: Cosmic Psyco is fixed now ;) Will upload IPS patch later on...
