Cool, I've updated the version on my homebrew site as well: https://homebrew.file-hunter.com/index.php?id=realfun3
Still no SN76489 in WebMSX though ;-)

No big updates, still working on a Z80 re-player and editor format to re-player format conversion tool, which is progressing slowly.
I did notice a bug or two in the current download version 0.71, so perhaps I will update that somewhere in the coming weeks... if I not introduce more by fixing those Wink

In the mean time I made a Sonic 3 song cover, trying to mimic some typical FM sounds (brass/trumpets/ etc). Worked out quite well I think.

The video can be found on our YouTube channel, or following link Hyrdocity Zone Act 2

Enjoy!

It's really amazing how the SCC can sound so inline the SCC!

Here I will be following up the road of exploration I took regarding the ISR sample playback in the Trilotracker beta tread and implementation of this feature into Realfun 3, in order not to pollute (or hi-jack) the tread to much with off topic Realfun 3 stuff.

Anyway, today I just finished the initial implementation of the pitch control to the sample playback.

I posted two new videos on YouTube showing this feature in action:
Voice Pitch Test
Go Come On GO!

The first is an simple and short initial test, with some pitch bends and modulation effects on voices only.
In the second I am using also other than voice samples, like guitar, snare ? drum, tom and orchestral hit... with some imagination ;)

Try sampling single-tone synth sounds with filter effects, and FM sounds. Those should work pretty well. You could also convert them straight from WAV fairly easily if you know the fundamental you recorded the tone with beforehand, and downsample a single cycle to 32 bytes every 1/60th of a second, without any potential issues of the FFT not tracking it well.

Today I tried to convert some samples from moonsound (oohs, aahs, sax, synth base and FM alien) and am not very successful at that. Looks like ARTRAG 's voice encoder does not recognize the fundamental frequency indeed and the results are terrible. Crying

Edit: would be nice if one could force a fundamental frequency in the voice encoder (hint hint!)

Not really eager to dive into this sample conversion myself and this feature implementation probably ends here...

Samples add a lot of hassle anyway, lots of memory required, sample loading/ saving (along with songs or separate wave kits), 'sample' memory management, cropping, loop positions, backwards/ forwards looping/playback, walk through speeds etc.

The voice encoder is tailored for human voice. The pitch tracking is specific for speech and implements a quite complex algorithm from the voice-box library.

It will not work with music instruments or pure sines

Really I enjoyed this piece of art. Congratulations! perhaps it is the best quality sound ever reached with the SCC chip and it still on development.

About the ISR samples, I think that still need some improvements but it is a good start. My support ARTRAG, this is one of the most difficult challenges in chip sound. I'm sure you will get it.
